THIS IS NOT A MODELING AMP!! I just relaced my (UGH) 65 Lb. Vox AC15C1 with the EL 34 St. James. I will NEVER go back. This amp, weight loss notwithstanding, is unbelievably great. I've used it on half a dozen gigs so far, and it sounds amaaaazing. And I've used nothing but Vox for 20 years mainly due to the unmatched tonal capabilities of Top Boost, but the St. James has all that and more. I have yet to sample the back panel options, but I'm anxious to jump into those as well, especially the Cab Rig option.

Blackstar, I am a believer. This thing takes pedals in either channel, not just the clean channel. And I have generally swapped out the Celestion Greenbacks in my Vox amps, but the Zephyr this amp comes with is equally amazing. And the real kicker: I've kept it in 2-watt mode with a mic in front which makes it nice and quiet on stage. No more bandmate complaints!!

These sound beautiful. I had the 40watt 6L6 (baby blue & cream) combo that was not only beautiful, but sounded beyond incredible. But, I started having reliability issues with it, with the effects loop (that unfortunately was common enough to find others with it on forums). That's my only concern with an amp that has obvious solid state elements to it. Maybe they've fixed those issues. Because this sounds incredible. And, I love how lightweight it is. Btw...that Eastman w/ violin finish is beautiful.

No part of the preamp, not even the channel 2 mid control goes through any 'software'. It is all analogue and all the overdrive tones are produced by the valves.
