lara jean is fond of daydreaming and fanticizing hence the whole lip sync to the song thing. she’s going through a breakup and she feels numb from the pain hence why it looks and it’s depicted that she’s “floating” because her mind is somewhere else and it feels almost as if everything around her is just passing by. i love the cinematography and camera shot at that scene with the focus being on her and the contrast of the colors blue and gray around her so y’all can stop cringing at that scene now because it’s not cringe-y because it’s literally a teenager going through a break up- what did you guys expect?

People saying cringe probably haven’t had that break where every sad/romantic song puts you in a daydream like state. Where you just mouth the words with tears coming down.
This was probably one of the most realistic after the breakup scenes. No screaming and breaking things. Just drifting feeling like something is missing.

I think the lip syncing fits Lara Jean's character. She is quite the type to listen to heart breaking songs and express her pain through words, letters and therefore songs. The words really connect to her feelings here, especially since she loves English literature. So I don't think this scene is cringey but rather a focus on Lara Jeans character and emotional expression. I also think it exaggerates her real first heartbroken experience.
