There's some speculation that the Dökkálfar and Svartálfar(Dwarves) are separate types of beings. The Jǫtunn wolf, Fenrisúlfr, is indeed the father of Sköll and Hati, but possibly also Garmr, the hound of Hel. Fenrisúlfr is the father of all Wargs. Lycanthropes would be classified as Wargs. There are several old Norse legends containing werewolves. Loki had a son whose name, Narfi, is sometimes translated as 'corpse god'. Makes you wonder where the Aptrganga('after Walker'/undead) and Draugar came from?

I refuse to accept that the Dark Elves/Drow were like the Dwarves for one simple fact...

They didn't have beards

I really like these types of videos, they give me an opportunity to always add something. The Valkyrs (Valkyries) were either Odin's Daughters like Brunhild or offspring from mortal kings who were selected by Odin. In order to stay immortal they had to Obey Odin and remain virgins. Valkyrs would often fly to earth using swan plumage and throw it off at a secluded stream. This was a vulnerable time for the Valkyrs while they bathed because if any mortal man found their plumage they could steal it. This forced them to remain on earth and in many cases mate with them, thus loosing their immortality and invulnerability. However, If a Valkyr could recover their swan plumage they could escape and all would be restored. The Story of Volund is one such Norse tale.

As a Skyrim player I am well versed in the ways of the Draugr...lmao
That 1:25 picture you showed of Skyrim art is sick tho, the idea of the jagged crown being fused with a normal Draugr helmet is pretty cool!

This is interesting. I love Norse Mythology and this will probably help with my stories. I must say...the Squirrel runs back and forth between the Hawk and dragon to cause life and death cycle....that's quite interesting, as it sure represents Spring and Winter.

Thank you, for all the hard work you do putting your videos together. Just the research alone. Thanks 😊

The thing that finally bound Fenrir was not a chain.. it was a chord. Like a kind of rope. Which only gets tighter the more you pull and try to get out.

Also the reason Fenrir grew is because Loki sneaked Fenrir into Asgard as a pup.. and drank daily from the well of Urdr.. the place where all the Asgardian got their immortality and invulnerability from

Aurgelmir, aka Ýmir, wasn’t just a Jötunn, but a primeval being, a "Ur-Jötunn", and yes, the ancestor of the Jötnar.

I feel like a lot of these aren't exactly the "Most Terrifying Creatures in Norse Mythology." Sure, Fenrir, the Draugr, and plenty of others are frightening beasts, but the Alfar and Rattatoskr aren't really that scary. I feel like there's a few other mythological beings from Nordic countries that could easily have made it in here, like the Danish Valravn, or even something like the dragon Fafnir.

One of the MAJOR contenders in Norse mythology that has a foothold in a lot of games are the varg and warg and most notably the main man himself. Fenrir/Fenris wolf. Werewolf the Apocalypse holds him dear as he is put within the World of Darkness.

the Jötnar are not specifically evil, but rather represents nature. and due to that it also represented womanhood, chaos, change and death. while the Aesir stood for manhood, culture, order and stability. but even though they were opposites to each other they still needed each other. there were even Jötnar in Asgard. most prominent was 3 Jötnar called Aegir (king of the oceans), Lue (king of fire) and Kari (king of wind). also many of the aesir was married to different Jötnar like Njord who was married to Skaði, and Freyr is married to Gerðr.

I think the Draugr are the basis for the undead creatures of the movie "The 13th Warrior", which was a criminally underrated film.
