Rhaenyra was reckless after Jace. One dark haired son shud have been enough let alone three. Jace was right in asking her what about once she passes away! Would the realm accept a bstd as their king? She herself put her children in peril.

Actually Viserys thought that harwin strong would be a great match for rhaenyra but it was harwin's father who suggest that it would be great if crown princess rhaenyra must be wed to laenor velaryon. If harwin's father just agreed viserys plan to wed her daughter to harwin strong, jace and his brothers would not receive insults as bastards.😢

I get why she choose harwin to sire her heirs but it was a dumb decision. She and leanor have blond hair both distintive features yet their sons all 3 of them have black hair and look nothing like leanor. Rhaenyra fault was her arrogance that as long as viserys remains she is protected . But she should have realised the moment he dies, even without the misunderstanding with alicent, the hightowers would have tried to claim the throne . Only thing that might have stopped the war is rhaenyra being named queen while viserys was alive. He was a wise man, so he should have foreseen the war. I think its realistic in way, ppl do fight for dumb reasons and their is a lot of negligence and incompetence. Atlwast it gave us a fun story.

Lets not forget that its Jace who comes up with the plan to look for other dragon riders in the book and its his mother that gets all offended by it. Its interesting how all of her positives are taken from other characters and negatives she has are given to others

I honestly blame Sir Laenor for this. His job was to be a husband to Rhaenyra, he had a duty and that included conceiving heirs, and yet he wouldn’t even commit to giving Rhaenyra children. Instead he partied, drank, and flew across the realm with his dragon while Rhaenyra was delivering children, that should’ve been his!!!
