If you could change one thing about each companion, what would it be?

I totally agree with you. I hope they dont nerf Lu Fei too much, Freya's story is pretty good but the stats make it not worth it. Anyways adding companions is a good idea and the world feels more alive 👍

This would’ve been a great opportunity to introduce a new Arcane staff, I feel like Liu Fei would have a really cool Khitan inspired one, but, I’m still excited 😆

I mean I like them
Lou seems like Thulsa without being Thulsa
Freya seems like Red Sonja without being Red Sonja

Why isn't Freya wearing the pride of aesir armor like in the picture.

Tencent actually added in a Chinese Sorcerer. Huh.

Eh, I don't see any appeal with this. They could have done something a lot better. For me personally, doesn't seem worth it at all.

Actually it kind of makes sense that Liu Fei is physically stronger. As I understand it, Conan magic usually involves summoning creatures and subtle enhancements of already existing traits, like super strength.

If he is a powerful sorcerer, he might have that enhanced death grip.

Sounds like about what I expected them to be. It's tricky to develop something like this and find the balance between pure power creep over existing Thrall options, and making them feel more powerful in a way that is meaningful.

I am looking forward to doing both quests, and I hope that this is something they add more of in the future because it helps the Exiled Lands feel more alive and interesting when there are stories out there to interact with.

Something I would like to see from a system like this down the road is long term passive things as a result of completing their quests and/or keeping them around. For example, what if stationing Freya in or around an active player Tavern causes more NPCs in Nordic dress to show up? Or what if Liu Fei could teach me new Sorceries or buff my sorceries, or cause Sorcerers to show up in the Tavern sometimes? Or maybe they could give me leads sometimes when I talk to them where the game can spawn either an NPC or a treasure box somewhere that they send me to go do something with. Stuff like that. Doesn't need to be much or to be fancy, just something that allows them to be more than just another Thrall.

I am not going to lie here, I was expecting more out of this. It is only the first of maybe many "companions."

I enjoyed it enough in a game that is rather bereft of active story telling. One big thing that I was expecting from the live stream is that the characters become essentially mute once you finish the respective quests. I am sure I heard that they would comment on their surroundings as they travelled the exiled lands. Maybe I just didn't see it in my play through, but it's my experience that they revert to dumb followers after the fact. It is nice to see another sorcery actively using the mechanic other than yourself.

I think sorcery itself needs a big balance pass or rework. Most of the spells are quiet useless. Creeping horde, I'm looking at you.

Fraya Is the only one I'd bother getting, so I do hope they buff her more and her weapon.

I plan on doing both quests anyway at least once just so I can have them. I'm hoping Funcom takes notes and adds more quests in the future.

I think we need a lot of companion with storyline quests. with different kind of thralls: artisan, bearer, fighter etc ... Because 2 or even, with other chapters...5...It's like, a demo, a proof of concept I hope they add companions also after this age. I think It's a good adition to pve content, and we need a lot more of them.

The Damsel in Distress trope isn't an evil thing, despite what slacktivists have threatened you believe.

Adding more and not fixing bugs/cheating is crazy to me

Dialogue options, role play value and the quest behind it, makes each of them worth it. Who cares if they are not the most powerful thralls out there? It's more challenging this way anyway.

Aye, the adventuring parts sound enjoyable, but the waiting eight hours inbetween each doesn't. No matter how these companions are changed later, however, it isn't like they are coming to replace all the others.

I do look forward to adding this Freya to my (relatively) long list of Viking warriors. Until then.. Skål! 🍻

I play a sorcerer so im excited for lui . i just wish he would do more casting. Also wish i could get some more spells. They left room to add some but i doubt they will add em. We still havent gotten more contracts or anything from the tavern system

Maybe I'm asking for too much, but it would be nice if these two new thralls had dialogue when following you. For example during a fight or on your travels, some dialogue would be nice.

The funny thing is that supposedly Freya should be Vanir and not Aesir due to her hair color.
