Nipsey Russell was great. I enjoyed his comedy for many years. Always light-hearted type comedy, not heavy stuff like Redd Foxx or Richard Pryor.

One of his earliest roles was as the dispatch cop Officer Anderson in the black-and-white (1961-63) TV show CAR 54 WHERE ARE YOU. He didn't get much screen time, and his lines were pretty straight and not too funny.

A common place to find Nipsey Russell was on the TV game show MATCH GAME, where he was allowed to say a lot of funny stuff. :)
