As a hairstylists, I'd like to apologize for your experience. We aren't all like that. I am appalled and embarrassed for you. That person is not a professional and should have her license taken away.

"I know we quoted you this price no. Absolutely NOT! If the quoted price was going to change, it should've been discussed prior to continuing the service in case you didn't want to go on or could do something else that's in your budget. I'm so pissed for you!!!! I'm licensed and hearing these kinds of stories scare me to know there's people out there like this that call themselves ""professionals"", wish you luck for future experiences!

OH my god, thank god someone else stepped in. No offense, but I can't STAND when people do these stories and they're like "but I payed anyway". Like NOOOO I would've caused hell up in that salon. You are not getting a damn DIME from me, hell I'll probably go to jail for beating your ass if you try to make me. Like NO. Ugh I can't. Biggest pet peeve of my life lol

Wow. As a stylist, you should never let your client leave unsatisfied. Yes, things happen but you don't leave a client sitting in the middle of a service to get bread? A lunch break is fine as long as you're processing. You need to get all of the product on the hair as quickly as possible so it lifts evenly. You DEFINITELY don't tell your client what they want and what's best for them. Crazy people!

She probably messed up when she tried to lighten you, so colored you back to dark to cover her mistake.

I'm a professional hairstylist with 12 years experience and I am horrified that not only did you sit in someones chair so long to not get what you asked for while being talked to the way that you described, but that not one other employee at that salon said or did anything while it was happening. There is a point where the courtesy extended to other professionals is not longer as important as the client sitting in their chair. I myself have stepped in to check on clients and in some instances take over the service however I was also trained to do so and have worked in salons that stress working as a team. To allow something like this to happen affect the reputation of the entire salon! If anyone reads my comment and is ever in a situation like this with a salon, especially if they attempt to dramatically increase the cost without previously discussing it, PLEASE stand your ground and insist on the price you were quoted if you even agree to pay at all.

Your story just about gave me a heart attack! That's so awful!

My only Salon horror story was a miscommunication. And they said this certain lightening thing would be $10. It was a salon I went to a lot, and I loved the workers there. They were all wonderful. So I get my favorite hair dresser, Sarah, to do this lightening process, we have a great time, it only takes an hour and a half, life is wonderful. My hair didn't look much different by the end, but whatever. My hair is fickle, and I figured it wasn't so expensive.
So I get up to pay and she says $60, and my heart stopped. My mom had given me her card to pay with it, and I knew we didn't have tons of money to do this stuff with. I had a panic attack and was crying in the store, feeling so guilty and like a conwoman who had just stolen product from them.
Mom and I worked out a way to pay for it, but I couldn't give Sarah a tip, which made me feel even MORE horrible. So when Christmas rolled around and I was more financially stable, I brought her a gift bag with candy and candles and some fun stuff. But I was absolutely traumatized for months afterwords.

I can’t believe people that have this happen actually just pay.

Once when I was 5 or 6, I was visiting my aunt in Delhi for the summer, and one of her friends happened to be a hairstylist and I was in need of a haircut then, so she and my mom took me to her little salon, and I had hair below my shoulders then, so I told her to keep the length and trim as little as possible. So I sat in the chair, she did her thing, I looked in the mirror, I hated it. It was now up to my ears, it was so short, I was growing out my hair after a head shave (long story), I was so glad I looked like a girl again, and she had taken away all that length. And this was the time my parents had told me "if someone does something for you and you don't like it, still smile and say you like it so they don't feel bad", so when the lady asked me if I liked it, I lied and said I liked it. Then she was like "Really?" and I assumed she wanted to tell the truth now so I said "No I don't like it, you made it so short, after I took so long to grow it out" and then my aunt took me to a corner and said I shouldn't have said that bc the lady felt bad. Then I was like "SHE ASKED ME TO TELL THE TRUTH SO I TOLD THE TRUTH" and I never saw that lady again...

I would've complained the first time she said she was going to leave you to go on break. At the very least when she left on her lunch break I would've left to get something to eat.

It’s the shock that makes you pay before you leave. I have in the past and just walk out. This time after 7 hours and a chemical burnt scalp, I walked right out. Best thing I’ve ever done xx

I’ve just been through a similar experience and my scalp is burnt and very damaged hair. Also took 7 hours in the salon and thank god my husband came to see what was talking so long at just before 7pm. So he told them we will not be paying for this experience lol xxx I’m still crying 😢💖💖💖💖
