Chiefs HC Andy Reid on Mahomes: 'If he can go, he'll go'

Chiefs coach Andy Reid spoke with reporters Tuesday ahead of the team's game Saturday against the Texans.

Glad he's not going to force Mahomes to sit. It's funny to me when people in these comments think they know what's best for him and our team better than the player or the people in the org. I've said over and over that there's no advantage to resting someone other than preventing them from getting injured on those reps. And if I'm a player out there getting hit every week, I want to play. Last thing I want at this point in the year is to get soft or rusty just because people think that me resting for a week is somehow going to prevent an injury, it's just not the case.

A game is a game but it's not uncommon to sit the last game if it's not needed when players are ready to go. I think the "2 game" situation is a factor

Mahomes is more important for Pit and the playoffs than this game. He should rest. If not, the game plan has to be drastically changed for quick throws, no deep passes that make him stand in the pocket, maybe even roll him out.

As soon as he got hurt on Sunday andy as head coach should have made the executive decision 50 to not play mahomes atleast one game the have a one game of cushion to stay 1 seed so they can afford to lose against the texans and if weltz is as good as they say he could even win

Your second half offensive play calling was atrocious! It's why Mahomes got injured and why we had so many three-and-outs! RUN THE BALL! RUN THE CLOCK! The Bills will probably win out, so we need to win 2 of 3. Running plays don't get anywhere if you don't run them. Maybe stick with the running game against the Texans as much as you did with the passing game against the Browns?
