Hello Rusty. Could you please tell me whether the translation shown below is correct or not?
• I should have asked him- Eu deveria ter perguntado a ele
• You should have asked her- tu deverias ter perguntado a ela
Whenever sentences like these appear, how to translate them? I am assuming that "to" is silent in both sentences and it can be placed in between 'asked' and 'him' in first sentence, similarly, it can be placed in between 'asked' and 'her' in second sentence. Because, silent 'to' is involved in english sentence given above, 'a' has been used in portuguese translation. I hope you might be remembering my previous comments that baffled you regarding the portuguese translation for 'to'.
