-Nipple Shield - talk to lactation consultant about recommended product for you
I recommend that you choose and purchase your breast pump by your due date!
In this video, I talk about some pumping tips, the pros and cons of the Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump, and I show you how to put it all together to pump with this specific pump.
If you plan to pump for when you go back to work, I recommend that you begin pumping before you are six weeks postpartum. This way your body can adjust to make the right amount of milk to feed your baby plus extra for storing away in your freezer stash. You can pump at any point in the day, but I have found that pumping as soon as I get up in the morning gives me the best results. Your baby does a better job removing milk from your breasts than the pump does. You can look at pictures of your baby while you pump and gently rub your breasts in a circular motion with your fingers to better results while pumping.
