A Russian drone attack on Kyiv killed two people, sparked fires in apartment buildings and forced the evacuation of tens of people, Ukraine's State Emergency Service said early on Sunday (March 23). Explosions lit up the night sky in the capital as Ukraine’s air defence system was activated, shooting down several drones in the attack in the early hours of Sunday. A woman died after falling debris from a destroyed drone sparked a fire in a high-rise residential building in the capital's Dniprosvkyi district, the emergency service posted on the Telegram messaging channel. At least 27 were evacuated from the building. Another person died in the overnight attack on Kyiv's Holosiivskyi district, the service said.

The Ukrainian air defense wasn't apparent in the civilian videos that were posted last night. These are videos from an earlier period and the Ukrainians are allowing civilians to post their own videos of attacks, which they haven't been doing in the past. They are hoping for civilian casualties to get more support.

Great early warning system, very little loss of life. It's amazing that city has electricity and cars in the street.
