Shure GLX-D+ Dual-Band Wireless Microphone System Review: Beatsource Tech

2.4 GHz wireless microphone systems are usually much more affordable than the UHF options, but they often come with some compromises, especially in signal reliability. The Shure GLX-D+ system is dual band, supporting 5.8 GHz, too, so does that make it a more dependable choice for DJs? Watch Mojaxx's review on this episode of #BeatsourceTech.

Great video! But an important note for anyone planning on using wireless mics out and about, you will need to turn on each mic you'll be using one at a time and Scan& Sync each one BEFORE turning on the next. Repeat the process for each individual mic, and this must be done at EVERY NEW LOCATION!
This allows each mic to carve out its own chunk of bandwidth to operate in and helps reduce interference.

Used this for my first 3 weddings this past weekend. Worked perfect at 2 of them. One of them during a speech it started to drop out, I then manually switched to another channel for the last speech and then it worked flawlessly after that. Just a tip.

Appreciate the review ; you offer often overlooked application(s) and specs details by the manufacturer and retail outlets.

Great video. I've been a Shure guy for many years so this was great to watch. I used to use the ULX-P series for years until the FCC took over the frequency band from what I had so I had to upgrade. Upgraded to 2 of the ULX-D series mic systems. I use it with a Beta-58 handheld mics and have two of the lavalier body packs for lapel mics when needed.

I used to have Rode Performer Kit that works in the 2.4ghz range. Even though the mic is good and sounds amasing, the dropouts were very frequent. Then I also used Shure BLX system for many years, simple stuff for 200 EUR and worked quite reliably. It still had drop outs too. Now I am owning a set of QLXD4 system and that is another level. Lots of frequencies to choose from and large antennas. I think I will get another QLXD system soon with the bodypack and never going to be under that range again.

I've been using the older GLX D version and i'm pretty satisfied with it and haven't been encountering dropouts yet fingers crossed

I've been wanting to upgrade to a Four mic shure system for awhile, But there's so many devices and configurations in their lineup it's really hard to figure out what I need personally and what's the cheapest option and best option for me as a DJ. Also I think the best way they can improve this system is to offer 18650 adapter support or a plug-in XLR transmitter for handheld mics and instruments

I bought a sm58 handler transmitter on eBay for a shure slx4 receiver I had but seem like it can't sync to the receiver, the mic is turn on but don't allow me to search for Chanel it only show 240.00, the three bar battery level, mhz which I'm not too familiar .. can anyone tell me what type of receiver should I purchase for it?

I know you mentioned higher end ones which ones would you recommend opposed to this? I’ve been using my shure dual for quite some years and I think they’re giving out. Last night had a bit of short drops which I would want to avoid at all going forward blamed on a lot of people between receiver and base and on being on a lower level along with some columns. Possibly lots of cell phones in between as well. Should I stick with this or anything better you recommend?

Great video. I have the Shure GLX-D+ with the lavalier. From my understanding, I can't have a handheld mic for the same receiver. Is that true? Or can I purchase a handheld and sync it to the receiver? Basically, I can only have the handheld or the lavalier active at 1 time.
