Great vid Scott, the drone footage was amazing. Glad everyone's ok, the buildings survived fine. Losing power is a pain for sure. Many thanks from Georgian Bay.

How's she goin'? Fiona sure did a lot of damage everywhere she went. We had no power for 2 weeks and barley any tress left standing around the camp. An amazing amount of energy in that storm. Glad to see you got most of your damage under control and squared away. Take care!!!

Glad you, your family, and the animals are all fine. Sorry to see the damage, particularly to the corn. I was also wondering if you can just mow it and pick it up with the chopper like the grass, but I’m not actually a farmer so I don’t know if that’s possible.

On the plus side, that’s probably the best tour we’ve had of the farm :-D

It's good to see you back. Thankfully, Ian moved east as it came into SC and we just got some gusty winds and a bit of rain where I live. I remember Hugo when I was 10 years old. The Air Base less than a mile from our house registered sustained winds of close to 140 mph before the wind instrument was ripped off of the building. We had extensive damage and were out of power for over 2 weeks. We used an antique hand pump on our well for water and feasted as our freezers thawed before all of the food spoiled. It took us 2 days of sawing just to get out of our driveway and we lost count at 200 trees just to get out. Many of our old barns were just shredded and a huge tree caused damage to our 1890's farmhouse. I hope that I never have to experience one like that again... Glad you all are alright... Hang in there...

Your one short showed the down corn but I never expected the stalks to be stripped of all leaves. Mother Nature did a real number on you! Glad you and the girls stayed safe.

Wow, I wasn’t even aware of Fiona being in the southern US but I’ve seen several of you that got tore up. Best wishes for your recovery.

Let's hope that everyone is well after this event! And hopefully, your insurance will help you cover the repair cost! It adds up quickly and make your farming experience quite unnecessarily difficult! Thanks for sharing Sir! Cheers

Bad enough you have a lot of cleaning up and repairs to do, but the corn!!!

Crazy the power the wind has. Goes to show how shelter belts help protect crops and soil!

Looks like you have some one way corn chopping in your future. We actually finished corn silage before the hurricane. Thank goodness.

Sorry about that Mac, the drone works great to spot the damage areas, hope you can recover quick from that,

I wonder if a flail chopper would work to salvage some corn good to see you are ok

Fortunately the damage was mostly to the corn, which still sucks. Being on the eastern side of the eye of a hurricane is the worst. Something to think about, next time mother nature is angry, could you stack some hay bales around vulnerable points to act as a wind buffer? All things considered glad you all made out fairly well. I noticed how your uncle's old lobster boat wasn't even fazed. 🙂⛵⛵

Sometimes it's better to try using a swather or haybine on corn
