This is gold.

My husband went to the ER 1 time and the bill came in at 8k for and in- and- out checkup (he had a pain on his arm, thought it could be blood clot...).

We called the hospital to ask for cash pay discount as we do with every doctor and dentist we see since we are self employed and insurance wad ridiculous when we started our business.

The 8k bill went down to just over $500 bucks. We asked if we can make payment (someone had already told me they would allow that, interest free), we paid $50 per month until it was paid off.

This video is gold! Insurance is a very profitable business

Health insurance is outta control! You pay more money and receive less. It's a major wealth stripper! I canceled my Health insurance years ago, and learned how to keep myself healthy. I can teach these doctors a thing or two that they'll never learn in medical school. I love this video headline! 🤘

Short Story: I had no health Insurance, had my appendix taken out. They sent me a bill for 21k, they found out that I did not have any insurance and dropped my cost to 9k. Completely worth it for me. Also, I set my monthly payment price.

Another solution you forgot to mention: Leave the USA. This isn't even a problem in most countries. Or if you don't want to permanently expatriate, you could go the medical tourism route. I really hate this situation we have in America. I'm 46 and while healthy I do have occasional reasons to go to the doctor. My job has great healthcare benefits and I'm afraid of leaving and losing health insurance.

Great video but you missed a few KEY points that further explain why for most health insurance is a huge waste of money... 1) If you select your auto insurance wisely you can get it with "uninsured/underinsured motorist covererage" and "medical payment coverage for at fault accidents" with massive 100K up to 500K medical coverage for a very modest amount of extra money. This would cover just about any type of car accident injury you might have EVEN if you were at fault for the accident. An auto accident is the most likely type of accident that one might get into (although still very unlikly) so this is a blind spot people miss that go without health insurance but this option covers it. 2) There are a lot of local and state programs that provide cheap but decent medical care to those without health insurance and most of the time the quality of care is as good as regular providers. These programs aren't publicized you have to do your research to hunt them out because the healthcare industry doesn't want you to know about them. 3) Natural medicine and healthy diet and lifestyle habits are supierior to any kind of healthcare by the official industry so again it comes down to doing your research and getting on board with a healthy lifestyle!

I appreciate all the great information. I've been on the fence since starting my own business and you were saying a lot of what I'm thinking.

I'm a 46 year old, single mama of two toddlers, teacher. I pay 1, 100/mo out of pocket! I eat organic, super healthy, no vaccines, haven't been to Kaiser since gave birth last time 1.8 yrs ago. Ok twice with my little's minor arm fracture. I'm probably going to drop my health insurance tomorrow. Love this video!! And if I had more money I could actually pay for natural health options, better vitamins, psychiatry if I need to, etc.

I haven't paid for health insurance for 5 years since my last job. New job wanted to charge me $130 bi-weekly. I'm in 30s now and relatively healthy. I've been looking for insurance out of the enrollment period because i need to go to the Doctors and get lab testing/blood work and it's more expensive out of pocket but it seems like I'll just be paying even more money with the premiums/ visits/ meeting the deductible and other fees other than just paying the bill straight up.

This makes a lot of sense, but my only fear of not having health insurance is the risk of unexpected hospitalizations. How can I mitigate this risk without health insurance?

I've only had insurance that year the government forced us to have it. Other than that I've never bought into it because I don't get sick or anything. I never have to go to the hospital. My immune system has been so great to me haven't had covid either. I'm 29 imagine starting working at 16 and getting health insurance at each job all the way up till I'm 29.( In that span I have never had to go to the hospital never) so imagine how much money I would of just wasted buying insurance for a ( just in case moment). Thank you to my immune system 😌

I couldn't ever make the math work for buying insurance.
Having a family of 4.... costs a minimum of $1, 500 a month for a high deductable plan.
Meaning, I'd be paying $1, 500 a month for something I really dont use. A doctor visit is like $50 (virtual) - $600 (blood tests).
Once you pay the insurance company never get it back.
I'd rather put aside $1, 500 that i dont touch that i can use for bills. That means in a year i have $18, 000 a year just to put towards healthcare.
After just 10 yrs thats $180k.
There are some other strategies i use also to midigate fuck, i just cant waste money on insurnace that doesn't benefit me.

My husband was uninsured and racked up a $15k hospital bill in two days. Eventually it went to collections and we settled it for $2700

save money and when you need medical, just pay 30 bucks a month. for years. Also some statue of limitations on medical debt as low as 2 years. Go to mexico for procedures . .

Yup smart man, especially if you are upper middle class or above. You might just need insurance against things such as car accidents or catastrophic diseases, non alcoholic cirrhosis or cancer. Worst case if you go totally bankrupt you will end up on Medicaid.
