With 30 years of automotive industry experience, our founder Dwayne Saunders recognized the need for providing auto repair through a different lens. After a brief trial-and-error business model, he opened Genuine Automotive & Diesel in Austin, Texas, in 2019. The concept of superior auto services and repairs and real customer care makes perfect sense to us, but it was so novel to our local clientele that customers voted to include “genuine” in the shop’s name. You’ll find us convenient to multiple major roads (between I-35, the MoPac Expressway, and Wells Branch and Scofield Ridge Parkways) at 13806 Turbine Drive Austin, TX 78728. We welcome walk-ins Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. To ensure quick access to a service/repair appointment, you can reserve your time using our online scheduler or by calling us at (512) 866-0212.

I know a guy that owns a small shop with 4 employees. He lives in Broadmoor in a 3 million dollar home. I also know a mechanic at a dealership that lives in his pickup.

My old man was making 750 a week plus commission back in the mid 70s. He was bringing home 1500 a week. He worked 10-12 hours a day 6 days a week but we lived really good.

Everyone says choose something you're passionate about and you'll never work a day in your life. I did this leaving high school and went into the motor industry. All it did was destroy my passion for cars. I think a better adage to live by is don't make your hobbies your day job.

100k is not enough to be working on cars all day.
My brother is a grocery store manager, he makes 100k sitting on his ass.

This is a lie. I got my mechanical tech degree and here in Pennsylvania a mechanic with degrees and certificates dont make crap. 2023 still making anywhere from $13-$17 an hour. You go to school for this and the people at McDonald's makes as much as you a person that went to school to pick up a trade... The system is a God bless America right, ..smh

On what planet is a tech making $100k? I'm lucky if I break $40k. Guess that's what happens when there's no consistency.

If you want to make a money as a mechanic. Specialize in electric. It's the only skill that can carry over doing anything else. Beside working on cars/fleet. Mostly everything now is part swapping. It's a great skill to have and that's about it. Your only going to make good money at fleets or opening your own shop.
