@mahalodotcom You said you use the capo because "It's Coldplay time" but Jonny Buckland doesn't use a capo in ANY of the Coldplay songs. Just saying.

@loss7y

He means it wasn't broken down well enough, fair point I think, it helps a lot to break down the strum patterns especially with beginners.

real strumming pattern:
D DDUDUDDDU
D= down stroke U= up stroke. The space after the first D space means a slight pause.
You change chords after first U. Like so everyone can see this!

actually, the solo/melody description is incomplete. in the studio version it's hard to hear that there are octaves played below the high E (on G/9th fret, during the breaks). The notes you call ^E/9th fret and ^E/7th fret are actually played on B/12th and ^E/9th fret, so they can ring at the same time, which makes this creamy harmony that makes the song so great. just saying...

How do you switch from the B minor to the D7? like what is the strumming pattern from there, because i like the way this guy switches there, but i like the strumming pattern from the comment above ^ for the rest of the song.

the lead goes 12e 9g 12e 9g 12b 9e 12b 9e times 3 then 12e 9g 12e 9e 12b 9e 12b 9e 10b. and David Veenstra it is called a capo

Jonny Buckland doesn't play it with that thingy on your fret (don't know what it's called)
