Ordered my own from the Freedom Hill Exchange in Da Nang, Vietnam in May, 1969.

The 68 & 69 are my favorites. And I like them setup exactly like this SS featured here. Love those rims, the long 4-speed stick, and those square twin tailpipes. So sexy.

My dad had a rebuilt 66 when i was a kid. He hit it wide open out of our driveway to test the top end in it. He got to the top of the hill less than a 100 yards from his start point when a cop hit his sirens. Cop asked if he knew how fast he was going. Dad said "About 85, but if it hadnt got stuck in 2nd it woulda been a lot faster". Not sure how much he paid on that ticket, but the story will last generations.

I had a '69 when I was in the Navy. '68 was my favorite year for the taillights, but I picked up the '69 for $800 bucks from a guy shipping out. Couldn't pass on that deal!

If you've ever done something really stupid with a car, pls read this. It still haunts me..ok. in 1984, I was selling cars in N.C. WE took a car just like this in on trade in..as it turned out, I knew the guy. He had bought the car new, this 1969 Chevellle..it was white, the paint was a little chalky, it would have needed paint, but the body, bumpers, trim, was perfect. No rust..He had redone the interior, new carpet, beautiful black bench seats, auto on the column . The guy had the full receipt, he had spent $ 1575 on just the engine within the past year, a good amount in 1984..Cam, headers, bunch of new stuff. It had the rally rims! Ran and drove out perfect. Here's the dumb part. Swear to God, my used car Mgr let me Buy this car. For $150. Not a typo. I sit it out in front of my house. The rims got stolen within a week. Then, I had some bill to pay, I sold this car to a wholesale dealer for $300. I actually have nightmares. EPIC, dumb mistake. I know.
