Installing the stock Intel LGA 1700 CPU cooler is pretty easy to do but is not without a few gotchas and some creaking metal and a bit of brute force. The same can be said for removal, so watch the video and hopefully it will give you the confidence to install or remove the stock cooler or maybe even upgrade.

Maybe consider some thermal compound?
Arctic MX4
Maybe consider an upgraded cooler?
Deepcool AK400

Thanks! Turns out I didin't click enough on the two bottom pins. So my idle temp was around 50 before watching your video AND around 32-35 degrees Celsius on idle AFTER watching your video. Thank you so much, Mike!

HOLY CRAP I have had INSANE troubles after the cooler fell off and I had to reinstall. This flimsy design is really bad, and I think I have broken something. My CPU is now at 99 degrees all the time :( but thank you SO much for actually going through how to reset the pins. The Intel website didnt have any details on this. You fix things where Intel really fail. You should get paid for doing us a public service. Thanks again!

Great tutorial as usual from the Dynamic Duo. I've been using Intel Coolers with push pins since Moses parted the Red Sea. 😂 Only had a couple of the pins break in that time. Bought backup pins off Amazon for a little more than a Fiver ( Still learning my British Slang) 😄 Take care all. Cheers

Really appreciate the clear video and the cooler recommendation. I'll have to wait an extra couple days to finish my build, but I think the AK400 will be a massive improvement over the stock cooler.

Nice clear video Mike! I really love the look of the new Intel stock coolers! I actually don’t mind their mounting mechanism either
