Really enjoying your channel and some great advice on this. It happens quite a bit and so many people have lost a pet. Unfortunately animals are really curious and snakes do not understand this. So glad your dog survived and is ok, sure took awhile to recover.

Thank you. I've let my dog dig under logs and rocks because I just thought it's just him being a dog, let him have fun. I never thought about the possibility of a snake being there. I might not keep him from doing this altogether, but I will definitely supervise much more closely from now on. Thank you.

Thanks for the vid and so glad your pooch survived. Our three desert dingoes are contained in approx 800m2 of bush land with the back boundary adjacent to some great coastal wetland. As you know that is great red belly country and we have many sightings each year. I love having the snakes and never interact with them even when they take up residence near our water features. It is a worry re an accidental bite but my hope is the snakes may be aware of the presence of the dingoes and keep away 🤞 thanks again and great advice.

Is there any first aid for dogs with snake bites similar to people?

Walking in the bush with my dog, saw a brown snake, dog ignored it and snake went on its way. If my dog had been bitten, what advice can you give me re first aid when I'm in the bush half and hour from home....I doubt if I could carry him. Thanks.

very good video. important info for sure one of my little dogs got bit by a red belly a year or two ago luckily survived and is doing great now. it actually happened during winter time which was unexpected and led to us only realising it was a snake bite after a bunch of tests haha.

so the dog doesn't howl, run around crazy freaking out, eyes pupils enlarged huge then go into fits of running and shaping motion on the ground lying down and throwing themself around than having a final fit while jaw and teeth shattering and then seizure and death all in around 20 minutes??

My neighbour has been bitten by a brown snake twice, both times they took it to the vet and after observation the vet said anti venine wasn't required and the cat is still alive and kicking. Although it does have a nasty habit of bringing snakes into the house. lol

I think i heard someone say that in South Africa when a unlucky pooch gets tagged by a puff adder (or perhaps gaboons?) they immediately euthanize as they just don’t survive those kind of bites, and the suffering they endure before succumbing to the venom is very brutal. Its a very sad thought.
