I bought the Fox version of those knee pads with the D30 inserts. I can say for certain D30 is a game changer. I tried 2 other knee pads and returned them. I got my pads with D30 in them and tried them on at home and forgot they were on for over an hour. They protected me in a straight-on OTB from the end of rock garden onto my knees and made it feel like falling in a pile of leaves but it was onto hard packed dirt. Worth the extra money, no questions.
Definitely discovering the let the kids have fun without the expectations aspect. My 13 year old hit a trail with lots of roots that I thought was going to just be pretty easy, but he ended up enjoying it, with no expectations going in. It was by far the most technical trail he has ever experienced.

Teagan is slaying it. You’re great parent for introducing not forcing him. I hope he takes the experience and enjoys the sport for a long time 👍

That was a lot of great advice, not just for parents but also for anyone helping friends out coming into mountain biking. 😎👍

From my personal experience, adding a social element to biking really helps (especially with girls). If you can get their friends or relatives who are also into biking to join you it often makes the whole experience that much more enjoyable. They can chat with their friends on the climbs rather than just suffering the whole time.

For girls they often say feel guilty that they're "holding back" more experienced riders. But if they have a companion to ride with them that is their skill level, it removes that pressure and allows them to just enjoy the ride.

Now that I’ve gotten my son into riding I’m hoping he stays interested in it, especially as other interests will come along as he advances through the teen years. I had gotten his older sister into riding, but lately she prefers (gasp) hiking.

Awesome! Great information as I have kids that are starting to get in to riding. How I have been doing this is, Thursdays after work I take the kids on easy trails. Then, Saturday mornings are my time at the jump trails. Keeps us all interested. Been working pretty well so far.
