Marinated Tofu (The Best Tofu Ever!)

This marinated tofu is hands down the best tofu I’ve ever tasted! It’s super flavorful, simple to make, and very versatile. I like to serve it on a bed of rice with stir fried vegetables, or even sliced in sandwiches. Perfect addition to salads, too!

Ingredients for marinate sauce:
4tbs soy sauce
3tbs rice vinegar
1tbs maple syrup
1tsp sesame oil
2 minced garlic cloves
1tbs fresh grated ginger

I made my own char siu sauce and marinating tofu for several hours now, im gonna cover it in corn starch or flour after putting it out, gently fry all sides before pouring the rest of the marinade into the pan, then slicing afterwards, tastes like Hong Kong

This came out WAY too salty for my taste, and with 4000 mg sodium from the 4 TBSP soy sauce concentrated down into the single brick of tofu, it's no wonder. I think it was adding leftover marinade back in during the tofu fry that pushed the saltiness too far. I was able to salvage the dish by making the fried tofu one element of a stir fry with a lot of noodles and broccoli, each cooked with no added salt. Then the tofu seasoned the whole dish more than enough but acceptable. The balance of flavors in the marinade was good but if I ever do it again I will make it 3 TBSP soy sauce, not 4, and NOT add the leftover marinade back in while frying the tofu. The excess marinade could probably be re-used for seasoning another dish later.

All these recipes adding ginger. Ugh… I happen to be that 1 in 100 people who detest ginger… I just omit it of course but it’s the main reason I don’t consume Asian/Indian cuisine like what’s represented out there… I prefer my ginger in cat form… lol.
