This one wrecked me. I was crossing a street in Salt Lake City and saw Sergei. I asked him if he would like some socks. He responded "I don't have any money", which was the first sign Sergei was new to the streets. I just didn't know how new.

Today is Sergei's 18th birthday. Today is also his first night homeless.

Many of you have asked for more details. I am sorry but I became emotional and didn't get much information. Too me, just the look on his face was enough to feel his pain and get some understanding.

Please support Safe Place, Covenant House, and similar organizations helping troubled youth. PLEASE!

Being a parent doesn't stop once your child turns 18. This is disgusting. When you become a parent, you're signing up for a lifetime, not 18 years.

It's not like you stop being a parent when your child turns 18, you still help them.

No wonder why these "parents" are never visited by children in nursing homes

The fact that he wished his father was still alive makes you think he would never let this happen to his son. What a terrible mother.

What’s ironic is that some parents kick their children out at 18 but when they come crawling back to their children asking for support or money they will probably say “oh but I raised you!” Or “how can you do this to your own mother????”.

His eyes look so sad, this is cruel. You never stop being a parent, many should think of it before reproducing for their ego.

He looks so worried, confused and sad in this video. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.

They didn’t let him finish high school. They sent him 2 states away where he literally couldn’t finish high school.

Imagine his mother in the future, she sees her son and says “why don’t you visit me son?”, imagine her son’s face

When that guy finds a family, he should not let his mom see his kids.

Nothing like denying old people grandkids.

He joined the Marines and turned his life around. He’s successful, married with children, and has his own home. He has a good relationship with his sisters. His mother died ten years ago penniless in prison.

Every child deserves a parent, but not every parent deserves a child .

You can totally tell how broken-hearted he is; disappointed at life, somehow. Those eyes say it all.

the emotion on his face tells me that he doesn’t even consider it a malicious or unethical thing, but rather something that everyone goes through in their life. absolutely heartbreaking.

The distraught look on his face. Poor guy man, he looks like a good kid.
