I had a wonderful afternoon back at the field of much cutlery, hunting along the hedge line as suggested by Martyn. This was an excellent idea and produced a few brass items but then, a spectacular and possibly Roman, spindle whorl, my first and a bucket list item for me!! I am over the moon. As well as this I found a fork and a spoon…of course and plenty of other tut!! 🤣😂

I hope you enjoy the video.

Hello Deano, great to see you out. That spindle whorl was most definitely an OLD one. I've seen some found elsewhere (France) and they were more easily identifiable, this one
is most def an older, perhaps Roman example. A day out and about is always a GREAT day! Take care Mate, see you again soon. Cheers!🍺🍺👍

3:36 is a carriage wheel hub lock. they slide it on the wheel bar and drop a pin through, it holds the wheel in place. they look nice when cleaned up 👍

Great video dude congrats on the spindle whorl!!! Basic (1) has no iron tone. That’s why you’ll be digging iron. I’ve stuck with fast (3) and hot (9). Both those programs are brilliant. I’ve had three gold since I’ve had mine (about 9 months) loads of silver. Hammys sixpence size will come in at 78 ish and silver milled in the 90s gold can come in as low as 25-30 for small gold necklaces... hope that help brother... best of luck on the next one 🤞

Hi Deano, a good day out my friend with a good selection of finds and well done on the spindle whorle, they are notoriously difficult to date as are all lead artifacts patina or no patina the best thing is let the FLO have a look and let them decide, as you know i love my lead artifact's and i will admit it does look like quite an early on ( but who am i 😂 ) anyway good video pal take care and best wishes Rob 😎👍🐭🐭

I heard a rumour that you’d found a spindle whorl 🤣 Apologise you bugger for all the scrap comment, and although I think that I may not be right when I tell you something, it always turns out that I thought wrong - and I was right 🤣🤣🤣
So listen toUncle Martyn - now we’ve had some rain start using the Core program at between 18 to 27 KHz. It’s a real killer program on pasture 👍🏼
