When this guy says I feel like I can run all day he means it.

300 kilometers in 24 hours is beyond crazy, the man definitely has a engine inside him or something

An update : It didn’t go well. Jornet got 10 hours in before stopping due to chest pain and dizziness. His attempt, unfortunately, ended in a trip to the hospital, and none of the other competitors came close to breaking the longstanding world record.

I can't even stand up for 24 hours without suffering

That is 188 miles without stopping.
My longest run is 13.1 so I couldn’t imagine doing that more than 14 times in a row.

You guys can look up this guy’s achievements its absolutely crazy. He climbed everest without oxygen and because his flight is in the next week and he didnt want to sit around in base camp, he climbed everest again in 17 hours. 2 fast summits of everest within a week, without supplemental oxygen.

As I understand it, to be officially recognised, it must be in a race, which is debatable in this context. Kouros set it in 1997 in an officially sanctioned 24hr race. There will be other 'competitors' in the event, but they are probably all Salomon sponsored runners, like Walmsley's 50mi 'record'. They even moved the event because it snowed. Kouros didn't do that either. I doubt he will break 300km, but then again, there are others who could do it, like Zach Bitters. Also, Kouros had the out of body experience on other occasions too. Kouros won something like 60 ultras, but got paid for just 10, that's how they rolled back in the day.

Update: Jornet failed miserably at his attempt. He dropped out of the race after 11 hours, and wasn't close to the pace needed to break the record.

Enjoyed this very much! Good thing TRP dedicated a post related to the ultra-running world. Without the ‘hype’, the structure and/or marching orders of most flat road races, ultra-distances represent running in its purest form. If you want to know what freedom of running really means, extended your runs beyond the 30 miles. The feeling is indescribable. Thank you for the vid!

Amazing video! A great look at the history of the record, and what it takes to break it. I learned about this only today from some running friends. Will definitely tune in!

Lithuanian Aleksandr Sorokin set a new 24-hour world record by running 309.400 kilometers (192.252 miles) at the 2021 UltraPark Weekend 24 Hour race in Poland on August 28 and 29, 2021. Incredibly, to achieve this record, he ran an average pace of 4:39 minutes per kilometer (7:29 minutes per mile) for 24 hours.

Jornet was on pace to beat the record by 6 miles but after 11 hours dropped out of the race. At the time I'm posting this there are 5 runners remaining

Given Kouros has the top 11 spots of the 24 hour record, I doubt Jornet will even come close. He won’t even get to 290km.
