Great video. I plan on building this with some modifications.
1. Use drop in concrete anchors so it can be easily re-installed
2. Simpson Strong-Tie Galvanized Rigid Tie Connector to mate the base and vertical 2x4, again - probably drill out to accept lag bolts for easy disassemble and re-install vs screws
3. U Bolts to anchor 2x4 to garage door vs brackets, allows for closer adjustments

Great approach since for whatever reason it’s been impossible to find the aluminum kits made especially for this purpose. Unfortunately the latch on my door extends from the hinge area all the way to the side via a long lock bar which makes it impossible to lay the 2x4 flat against the hinge on that side (the latch mechanism protrudes) 😢

I think they forgot that most people store their cars in their garage during the storm. Theres no room for me or the wood behind my car to install that. My garage has survived irma so I think I'm gucci.
