I respect beekeepers a lot. I freak out when a bee is anywhere near me so i acn't imagine having to work near them
(Edit)
After thinking about it for a while, i decided to tell you what i think caused my fear of bees. When i was around 4 years old, i visited my grandparents in romania. I was playing in their backyard when i discoverd a "mouse" hole. I stuck some berries in the hole since i wanted to feed the mouse. As it turns out, it was a wasp hole. The wasps stung me a few times but i managed to escape into the house. So the event that caused my fear in bees (or rather bee like insects) were wasps.

Ps. If anything here seemed poorly written/has typos, english is my second language.

Pps. I wont change "acn't"

For anyone who might wonder why old comb like this is preferred over newer comb, it's because brood comb will shrink over item, eventually to the point where larvae won't be able to pupate into adult bees. Recycling old brood comb for wax prevents this, as can moving it to a higher place in the hive, where it will be used for honey storage instead of brood.

I couldn’t trust myself around that final product. I’d want to take a bite.

We rented pastureland to a beekeeper. At least 2 dozen hive boxes. The pasture was for sheep. To create a faster weight gain in our feeder lambs, we mixed molasses in their feed which was stored in the barn in an open wagon, just inside the big open barn door.

The corn would be so thick with bees that it looked almost black. Every day we had to fill several 5 gallon pails of corn from that wagon swarming with bees.

I tried to get out of it as often as possible, but wasn't always able to.

I moved slow and easy kind of jostling them away from one area, then quickly filled all the buckets before climbing out to spread them out in the feeders.

Never got stung one single time in all those years. I also wore my snowmobile suit and gloves to do do the job no matter how hot it was.

The honey was abundant and amazing. 4 families each got so much honey that we had leftovers from the previous year every time we got the next bucket full.

Sometimes you don't realize how truly good you have it till it's gone.

These days that abundance of good foods is a luxury I am denied due to extreme poverty.

After that second wash, it turned into a lemon curd pie. And no one can stop me from taking a bite 😂

Bees are literally life. The honey last forever & their house gives us light.

I’m allergic to honey so I miss out on really cool stuff like this. My granddad raised bees. I’ve always loved watching him.

Grew up next door to a very large beekeeper, so we regularly were allowed to "help" him out, we were paid in jars of honney and beeswax. The smell is absolutely amazing.

The honey smell of the cleaned beeswax is like no other on earth. Marvellous! What a wonderful gift beeswax is.

My grandmother used to make it exactly same and then candles out of it. It has most sophisticated scent you can find ❤️

The scraping of the dried out beeswax was so satisfying... I would love to do that one part lol

I LOVE beeswax for sealing wood. I make “stash boxes” nobody wants varnish, or polyurethane odor in with their bud, and beeswax is really odorless. Natural, waterproof, clear, it’s fantastic

I want to take a second to thank you so much for not ruining this video with a god awful automated tik-tok voice reading the captions when so many other people would have.

They use old combs for wax, because wax is hard for bees to make. It takes 8 parts of honey to make 1 part of wax. That's why usually they just cut the wax caps off the comb and use a spinner to get the honey out, then put the combs back for the bees to refill. As a beekeeper you can only take the excess honey or wax. If you take the stuff the bees actually need, they just leave.
