What Is A Torque Converter Front Pump Seal Leak

Thats whats happening on my 1990 A4LD trans. Transmission fluid is slowly leaking out the bottom 6 oclock Position of the bell housing that shrouds The torque convertor pump and leaking front seal of the pump!

some cars like my lexus ls430 seal on the trans pump has to be even with that outside edge or will leak. especially seating it past the lip like that

Should I replace the bushing, gasket and O ring behind it as well?

There is also a pump bushing that can leak and push it through the front seal

This happened to me, and mine spewed all the fluid out and started slipping. Until it wouldnt move forward anymore (because no fluid left) and it got hot enough the fluid underneath caught fire. Whats the likelihood I need a reman transmission? Thats what the mechanic is trying to convince me to do and I told him I want to try a pump seal first and he said the labor charge is $850 for the seal

I could do it myself but i broke down 2 hours from home so im willing to pay the price to get it done

looking at a classic that is clearly leaking ATF between the trans and motor. not sure i want to deal with that but looks easy enough.

I had my truck start with a small Leak and over time got real bad.

and if its a ford truck or commercial transmission the torque convert drain plug could be lose or missing ...Fact ...lol

I have a friend who thought his transmission was shot. Lol just a seal
