I met Cav in 2010 and am a great admirer. Some of the most spectacular sprint finishes were his wins on the Champs D'Elysees for HTC/Columbia High Road, which brought massive television coverage for the sponsor. Dimension Data has a business to run and unless there is some other deal in the background, Cav is under contract. Dimension Data have nothing to gain from Cav riding the Olympics for Team GB unless someone pays $$$. It's pure speculation and he can do whatever he wants.

The meetings behind closed doors will end up deciding for Cav to make the yellow jersey run early in the Tour, withdraw early to prep for the hardwood of the Olympics.  Sponsors want impressions (publicity, views, clicks, mentions) and Cav's run for Tour and Olympic glory will be more than they could have wished for. Now... World's RR champs....  I don't know.  I'm thinking that will go to Kristoff or Kittel unless injury takes them out.

Cav in Paris would be the best possible for my wish to the cycling world, the others are more "oddsy"

I'm shocked because Cav has just quit the TdF with only a few stages left so he can concentrate on Rio.
None of my business but I'm disappointed because I never had Cav down as a quitter, it's a bit of an insult to the Tour and to the prestigious Champs Elysses finish and to his fans.
In his place I'd have cruised the few remaining stages so's I could have a crack at winning my 31st stage on the CE, AND I'd have still been able to go to Rio for a crack at a medal.
I hope his decision doesn't come back to haunt him in future years when he retires from cycling if he's one stage win short of matching Merckx's 34 wins.
Even worse, if Cav finishes his career stuck on 34 wins like Merckx, he's going to regret throwing away the CE 2016 chance to make it 35 which would have made Cav the greatest-ever stage winner of the TdF..

If Cavendish gets 2 stage wins in the TdF, I think they'll be fine letting him go to train. If he doesn't they'll be far more likely to make him stay.

This is a tough situation for Cav - Why would he even want to do both. I think he owes his allegiance to his employer. Unless of course he knows something we don't. Is Wiggo going to hire him if he does well at the Olympic Games?? Last but not least, is Cav good enough to out sprint the likes of Kittle & Greipel? I understand that this year the TdF is a bit climb-heavy.

Hi Bob! Love your show! Just wish my husband would not play it on his iPad in bed!

Maybe it is just me but it seems as of the last few years British cycling has a lot of drama surrounding them between Cav Wiggins and Frome.

Do we know the sprint field for the Tdf yet? It seems that cavs dominance has been suspect in recent years and he's gonna have his hands full just getting through the tour with that early stage win to get yellow. It seems cycling does not favor the greedy whether it be a grand tour double or the olympics/tour.

Would they make such a demand of Wiggo?
