In this video, I make wooden blanks for turning pens from leftovers in my scrap wood bins. These were cut from leftovers from prior projects making bowls from a board and include walnut, maple, cherry, oak, and a little bit of pine.
Some of the craps came from this project in 2 parts:

An excellent way of using scrap and they will make some great pens.
Thanks

Fantastic work, but damn you make me nervous with those push sticks! Get yourself a gripper man! A kickback in the guts is really no fun...

I'm terrified for your fingers! You don't have a jig or something you could control the wood with when using the band saw? And why did you make the second lot of cuts on a table saw instead? (thankfully without getting your fingers as close, but I'm not convinced pushing it through with a couple of timber scraps like you were stoking a campfire is any safer than your first method. I kept waiting for it to grab and flick up into your eye!)

Fingers don't come cheap....and cutting them off boy.
Gluing in tubes can stick to fingers. I use a stick turned to a long taper ....push on tubes..apply glue..push into blank.
BUT ON THE GOOD SIDE. I like the idea of multi coloured john uk

I have a question? does all wood require that it be stabilized prior to making a pen or is that just a suggestion to make the wood hard?

I like what you are doing with your off-cuts. I don't care much for your music. The beat just pounds on my ears and hurts my head. Yes I did mute but I kept coming back to see if you had anything to say. You didn't, but I wish you had. Your voice is much better to listen to.
