Thanks so much I just bought a 2018 Mac mini and a have a spare tv monitor(not my main one by the way) lying around with a Logitech mouse and keyboard so this worked for me .HDMI is the best.

OK, so what if you do exactly that and there’s no picture but it does work with smaller TVs in the house just not the TV but it’s intended for? A haier55 inch. It works on 26 inch vizeo only

As a commercial photographer and music composer I'm glad I switched over to Apple products, but I can understand if you'd be a bit put off by them if you're used to PCs. I used PCs for about 20 years and was skeptical about switching over just because of the fact that the interface is so different. It took me about 3 weeks to get comfortable with the differences my first Mac had, but now every time I use Windows it feels very archaic to me. For gaming and word processing/spreadsheets, etc. PC is definitely best in my book, although Microsoft makes a version of Office for OSX which works really well. For creative work of any kind, whether it be photography, music editing/composition, video editing or illustration I definitely think Mac is the way to go. It all becomes second nature after using OSX for a short time.

I have a 2012 Mac Mini that I connected exactly as you demonstrated and the TV always reads No Signal. I selected the proper HDMI input as well. I’ve switched cables and nothing seems to help. I get the characteristic start up chime on the Mini, but I never see a Mac desktop.

My Samsung TV (made in 2010) has a digram showing the need for an audio cable in addition to the HDMI cable. Do I really need the audio cable?
