Eggers is one-of-a-kind, definitely. Someone I particularly would like to see work with him again is Hawke, I feel like both have a very passionate and meticulous but also smart and self-aware approach to filmmaking.

The movie is fantastic.
Fantastic.
The director has shown he is far stronger with mood and cinematography and script than with the acting.

I find this movie plot very interesting, I have watched a movie called the nightingale by Jennifer Kent, very similar crux to there ploy. Same as gladiator and braveheart or lion King. Very different movies but found some similarities. Can't wait to see it again.

I think if he would’ve turned it into a series that show would’ve been amazing

See, here is the thing that obviously so many even more educated people don’t quite understand; SOME Vikings did awful horrible things. “vikingr” means “to raid” so the Scandinavia people were so much more than just Raiders. Raiding was a seasonal thing IF you’re tribe was on the verge of starving to death. They also more commonly would have men get the attention of the guards to come out of the gates and chase the men off while others would sneak in from front gate or climb the walls in silence, sneak in grab a bunch of stuff, toss it over the wall and climb back out. Would men be caught stealing and kill other men trying to stop them from raiding or be killed by the men they were trying to raid from? Of course. But raiding was not some genocidal rape fest of slave wrangling. That was VERY rare, and Koryos war bands would ideally have to be recruited by “civilized” tribes, as was depicted in the film, to do such a murderous rampage. Yet! Most of the War-bands of the Koryos didn’t murder indiscriminately. The mass burning of the villagers by the Koryos was not a common thing at all. Why? Because it makes no sense to enslave and murder all the villagers who create and grow the goods you need for next seasons raid.

This movie did such a good job, but I hope the next installment of Viking culture that is put on the big screen capitalizes on The Northman by adding these key understandings. But, the Northman’s raiding depictions did happen, especially by the Rus/Slavic people and the Saxons were at times very brutal as well more commonly. Yet the Norse, Danes, Sweds, Celts(or Gaels) were not so dishonorable in their fierce morality.

WOrst movie i seen in years, worse than marvel garbage, not authrntic at all, the characters are idiots. This is an insult to vikings of history and to any intelligent human being.
