The reason Neuvillette is so good is because he can hover around, you never have to stop doing damage to dodge, I’m an Ayato main so it hurts to admit.

*with right build and weapon can literally solo
*flexible with literally any team if they can make a hydro related reaction and gives even more dmg other than his own personal dmg
*very f2p friendly

Summary:
- Childe: Strong against waves, many nearby enemies and specifically at National.
- Neuvillete: Best Main DPS Hydro currently. The base damage is tremendously high.
- Ayato: Less risky. On-field, Off-field, Freeze, Taser, Dendro, Vape, National... It can do absolutely anything, but it's not excellent at absolutely anything (apart from dendro).

All 3 are good, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I just don't recommend Childe. Neuvillete is very strong, and Ayato can do everything Childe does better (with the exception of National)

I'd say while Ayato isnt better than other hydros in specific teams, the fact that he can be used in every hydro team comp reliably makes him very much worth it. In terms of primogem costs itll be cheaper to just get ayato and use him in all your favorite hydro on-fielder teams than getting multiple different hydro on fielders for specific teams.

This is mainly why i regret getting childe after Ayato's release and will be skipping Neuvillette

Ayato is thee SS tier character for all mobile players with that true bobba tea, flexibilitea, and not struggling to press other buttons for optimal damage needed like spinning a Kamehameha or weapon stance for the character!

DMG IS NOT EVERYTHING!

to make it more simple for everybody:
1. chose the character that you like most.
2. if you are a whale then you can affored to get more 5 stars characters, so get Chiled and Nuvillete as you will get the most DMG out of each one specific teams.
3. if you are a F2P or a dolphin then you cant afford to get many 5 stars, so go for Ayato and you can have all the teams with one character.

BTW, if you build your Ayato and his sup well, you can clear any contant in the game.. that means that DMG isnt a factor.
Chiled and Nuvillet would still do more DMG in each one specific teams. but you will need to invest in 2 hydro DPSs so you can play this teams instead of 1 character that works more then good enough in all the teams.

but honestly who ever is more fun for you should be the most importent factor.

Ayato is my second place fav char after Albedo. Hes great and 17k hits are nice. Getting his artifact set from the craft was awesome.

Childe international is good & satisfying to play, I never use him other than that team.

Another team for Childe i would recommend is Intergrassional. This team has Kazuha, Nahida & Bennett. Here Kazuha will be triggering burgeon with pyro swirl & childe can nuke the burning enemies. Only good against multi target but very fun to play:⁠-⁠D

Personally I enjoy these kind of comparison/contrast with other characters in their role. Typically only see single character guides, so a literal breath of fresh air. I only wish this was out a week+ before the banner expired.

As a hydro lover, I have them all and try to share my love between them. However, Ayato has a special place in my heart.
As soon as I came into the game at the first Kokomi banner, I got Mona and a guaranteed Tartaglia in further. So, this Harbinger became my first legendary character, but I gave up on him before getting 2 aquas. When Ayato released, he became the character who never leaves the team... And this has been going on for more than one and a half year. As for Neuvillette: I was waiting for him from the moment he was first mentioned, got him, his weapon (after losing 2 times on stuff of homa) and realized that this was just the pro-version of Ayato for me. For each of these characters I have a place in certain teams, but Neuvillette is probably the best option in terms of damage and comfort. Tartaglia is revealed only in certain teams with a vape, and some find it difficult to get used to his E. Ayato, as Tenha said, Jack of all trades, will appear everywhere, but may not be the best option everywhere (although for the world this character, in my opinion, is the best; u just use E and then make shink-shink). Neuvillet has many advantages: he heals himself, f2p friendly, there are quite a lot of teams in which he fits well, has one problem that can be solved with C1 or a shield. If I had to choose between the three of them, I wondered what was more important to me at the moment. Nuke character? Tartaglia. Lots of damage for minimal investment? Neuvillette. Something in between, so that there is an opportunity for hypercarry and support, and also great comfort in the world? Ayato.
