Man, this woman is so wise. The “be a generation starter” mentality is such a profound thing. And making great food accessible to all people?! She is such an inspiration

"If their budget is food stamps, why tf not?" I genuinely hope she has all of the success in the world. We need more people with her mentality ❤

As a Frenchman I just wanna say something:
Pastries were never expensive growing up. Pretty much everyone could afford it. The price of stuff in patisseries these days is a JOKE.
I'm glad this woman decided to enable people in her neighborhood to try good food. I live nowhere near this bakery but I hope you'll be as successful as you can be! I'm sure it's just as good as any other bakery back in France and who knows, possibly better.
Peace.

As a French native, this made me so happy 😊 French pastries are everyday items and they’re so simple and delicious! It’s great that she’s recreating this in her neighborhood. AND her mindset is the best I’ve heard on the internet so far. “Be a generational starter”. Beautiful!

“I’m a cycle starter” I LOVE THAT!! She’s amazing and her stuff looks SOO GOOD! And it’s wonderful how she made the good stuff more accessible to people too by accepting food stamps! Everyone deserves a nice treat once in a while!

EBT AT THE BAKERY!! I remember, growing up when food stamps was paper, and my mother would send me to the corner store once a week to buy a dollar worth of salami and a dollar worth of cheese for our snack. This woman’s mindset is golden. If I’m ever in Brooklyn, I’m stopping by. With my Amex this time. I appreciate what you are doing for everyone back in the hood. We need more of this around the way. God bless you.

“Don’t be a generational curse breaker; be a generational starter” is genuinely a one of the best quotes I’ve ever heard and definitely something I needed to hear. I hope this bakery is successful for generations ❤

"I'm not a cycle breaker. I'm a cycle starter. You cannot break generations but what you can do is be the one to start new generations."

That's a Word. These are the stories that I love to hear. I wish her that success in all her future endeavors. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Many years ago l had a dream of going into inner city schools to teach dining etiquette. My high school bff invited me to the Miss Maryland pagent. Tears rolled down my cheeks because l didn't know which piece of silverware to use. She pretended not to notice. She also loaned me clothes. She told no one. Hugs to beautiful Jen Patterson for changing my life.

The fact that she takes EBT makes me so damn happy. Everyone deserves a treat, something that makes them feel special and food is such an underrated way to do that. I love this and the next time I am in Brooklyn I will be supporting this amazing woman and her lovely business

I love that she phrased it this way. Her elders didn't have the same chances she did. She's doing it because of their hard worm, she's doing this for them, she is not acting against what they have taught her or what they stood for. Cycle breaking is a powerful thing; this, however is carrying on a legacy of hard work and love for her community.

I see what she did! She put the focus on the positive action “starter” and not the negative action “breaker”. This young woman is on to something 🙌🏾👏🏾.
