The hips moving forward off the tush line towards the golf ball (early extension) creates a whole mess of issues in your golf swing and greatly effects your ability to compress the golf ball. In this video, we show you a couple great drills to help you eliminate your early extension!

I’m a PGA Professional and your videos are some of the best I’ve ever seen. All your data actually makes the swing simpler than what a lot of people try to make it. Great information!

😂 1:40 when the zoom bubble pops in I was like: wait what? Shaun put on some weight...??? Oh... nevermind 🤣

A simple & effective fix for a really common problem. Thanks for the lesson. You guys get to the root of the problem, rather than fixing the symptoms.

This is one of points which Mike mention to me as he continues to work with me on my take away. I just purchased a golf posture pad that will help me with this feeling to.

Great video showing how to train opening the hips to eliminate early extension. Can you suggest something that might work on the driving range where there is no ground — only cement and mats.

Guys, thank you very much for another great lesson. As a matter of fact I am working on hip turn but have no idea how to do until your lesson. Thanks. This drill will be my drill forever.

Great video again guys. I also like the drill, looks easy to setup and practice just about anywhere.

My hip movement is a huge issue, love the channel!

Great drill. Really like the discription of how the hips move to start the swing. I like doing the first move by hitting shot of 80 yds then 100 yds 60 yds.

Great drill as it is something I have always struggled with. Question. The driving ranges around me are all mats, no grass. What is a good way to do this exact drill, push the stick, with no grass or at home?

Somewhere a few years ago I developed an early extension horrific issue, not until your description of hip plane (left specifically on downswing) in prior video did I solve the issue. No lateral parallel hip turn which I once thought hip rotation was suppose to be. Thanks.

It’s amazing how many “pros” haven’t figured this out. Even with a nice easy swing forward right rotation (not left turning back) will cause a shank. I also like the weight on toes as an indication

Can you do a lesson about when and how to extend left knee at down swing? Thanks.

Will this make it easier to get left sooner?

Coincidence or what? This is the second video I've seen posted on this topic in the last 24 hours. Two days ago I had a 3D biomechanical assessment done on my golf swing. To be honest, I had no idea such a thing was possible for your average Joe, but I thought it would be an interesting thing to do. I have an arthritic condition that means I have stiff joints and limited (compared to normal - whatever that means) thoracic flexibility. I have always wondered whether my condition was limiting my turning in the backswing. The 3d analysis was a real eye-opener. It appears that I have more than enough enough rotation of my chest and hips to play golf to a pretty good standard - so that is no longer an excuse! You can't beat hard data, which is why I like many of your videos. I do have a problem with early extension though, which, coupled with my rotation, is putting quite a lot of stress on my right hip and the right side of my back. So I pretty much have to sort it out if I want to continue playing golf over the long term. The good new is that the solution should improve my golf dramatically and help my back. Seems like win/win to me!

Very valuable and thank you.
How little the left hip travels is key.
The left hip not getting out of the way shoves the hands out, prevents the club from dropping, promotes wipes and chicken winging.
However, the left hip getting out of the way promotes delofting and trapping the irons.
This is my fault, I know it well. The drill will be put to good use.
I saw a vid on youtube of Suzanne Peterson practicing....and she had her caddy put his butt up against hers as she hit balls...in an effort to keep hips back.
interesting. It would be fun to caddy for her.
