Dealers should ask their customers when the transmission fluid was last changed, how many miles ago. Let the customer know what can happen when the transmission fluid breaks down. Its less expensive to change the fluid on a regular basis than wait until problems start to come up. Good video and information.

Gotta love manufacturers like BMW with their "lifetime" fluid! It's just Dex VI and they say never change it. It's hard to sell a service to a customer when the dealer, and or the owner's manual tells them it's "lifetime" fluid. I usually turn to YouTube to show them what happens. This is another good video to use as a demonstration.

You also must use the correct fluid. If you don't you will eventually need a new or rebuilt transmission. That will be much more expensive than the difference between the correct fluid and some "universal" fluid. It is sometimes not a good idea to use a universal transmission fluid. Some cars like my Volkswagen would have me regretting use of such a universal fluid. It is true that the fluid for my car sells for $18.36 PLUS tax at the dealer but it is a very small price to pay to avoid the misery that a broken transmission can bring with it. It is one of those fluids that others have tried to find alternative fluids to use instead of. Most of the time that did not end well.

Drop a neodmndym magnet in that pan, and the fluid will stay cleaner. A powerful magnet is better than a filter

Why is Amsoil Transmission fluid better than anything else? Can it take more heat, does it have some kind of additive package? What is it?

2:36 “as you can see, the drum is starting to slip”

See what? What visually indicates that the drum is slipping?

What do you think about those newer cars with sealed transmission fluid that "last forever"? my son's 2009 Camry XLE has one of those, how often you need to change the fluid? there is no dip stick and you can't check the color or level

Thanks for the video. So, how often should the atf be changed? Every 30k miles or every 60k miles? Thanks

What about using Amsoil Engine and Transmission Flush before performing a Tranny Flush? I've read mixed reviews about doing this in transmissions.

My first car was an automatic. It was from the 70s and it had more maintenance problems then an octogenarian drinking thorium. I only had it for 3 months. My 3rd car was an Automatic convertible with power everything that I loved, but it had a leaky transmission and I was not good at replenishing it. Needless to say it became a maintenance nightmare after a short amount of time (under two years) but not just transmission problems. Power steering and Power windows started having problems too. Once the air conditioning broke I had enough.
I bought myself an ugly Toyota with a manual transmission, hand crank windows and electrical power steering. Not much to look at but I've owned it for 10 years and have had no problems. I am confident when I say I believe this car will last me for the rest of my life.

yes, I'm in favor of changing transmission fluid. a mechanic once told me, its dangerous to replace the transmission fluid, if not done correctly, it can fry the transmission. Is this info correct ?
I once did this to my brothers car, and he was having lots of problems with his transmission after that.
ultimately, we needed to get the whole transmission replaced by a professional mechanic.

This dude is what you call a real - Master Mechanic - when your that comprehensive on every detail, it takes a lifetime... I know an O'G piston-4-A-brain master; 🤫 their hands always have the slightest shakiness 2em, I'm guessing from tedious precision mechanics 🤷‍♂️ ✌
