Manage Inventory Like a PRO in Baldur's Gate 3

Gather your party and return to the Forgotten Realms in a tale of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power. Mysterious abilities are awakening inside you, drawn from a mind flayer parasite planted in your brain. Resist, and turn darkness against itself. Or embrace corruption, and become ultimate evil. From the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2 comes a next-generation RPG, set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons.

Choose from 12 classes and 11 races from the D&D Player's Handbook and create your own identity, or play as an Origin hero with a hand-crafted background. Or tangle with your inner corruption as the Dark Urge, a fully customisable Origin hero with its own unique mechanics and story. Whoever you choose to be, adventure, loot, battle and romance your way across the Forgotten Realms and beyond. Gather your party. Take the adventure online as a party of up to four.

Abducted, infected, lost. You are turning into a monster, but as the corruption inside you grows, so does your power. That power may help you to survive, but there will be a price to pay, and more than any ability, the bonds of trust that you build within your party could be your greatest strength. Caught in a conflict between devils, deities, and sinister otherworldly forces, you will determine the fate of the Forgotten Realms together.

A tip about bags and pouches. You can throw them! So if tossing an alchemical fire potion isn't going to do enough damage. Fill a pouch with 2 or 3 of them. Then toss the pouch. The pouch will explode and trigger everything inside. Still takes one action but they will ALL go off. You can one shot a ton of enemies.

A nice QoL improvement would be the ability to rename containers, so that you can remember which is which without having to remember "ok so the backpack is weapons and the pouch is potions and the sack is scrolls..."

There's so much stuff to pickup, it's hard to know what you will need later and what you can sell. Some stuff you read will cause a new journal entry and most of the books you read don't really do anything or tell you anything relevant. So, they end up getting sold and then I buy what I need to get by.

I wish someone would make a list of unique icon bags as they are super helpful for organization. The ones i know of and use are Curious book for spells, Stuffed bear can hold my bombs/poisons. Fish bucket holds my elixirs. etc. Pay attention to bags you find because some have unique names with the common icons. Old backpack, Kannons belongings, Apprentice pack etc. I use crates of different icons to organize things in my camp that will be to much weight to haul around. Weapons in one, Armour in another, Gear in another etc.

You missed a really good trick with bags
Step 1: Get 3 different types of bags, I prefer a bag, a pouch and a sack
Step 2: Pull all of certain items in each. I put all potions in the bag, all throwables in sack and all scrolls in pouch
Step 4: Update your interface settings where it says something like "auto add to hotbar" and you change it so everything is unchecked except for containers
Step 5: At any point if character A has the bag of potions but character B needs a potion to use you drag the bag to them and let them use the potion from their newly updated hot bar.

The fact that you can randomly move bags mid-fight will save you so much head ache. No more ensuring every character has 5 healing potions and junk. This also makes it so who ever has the highest carry capacity also carries all your throwable stuff/potions and the bag of scrolls which is great for spells is normally really light and you can leave that on a low strength person which mages tend to be.

Great tips! In that Search bar function, I use the drop downs for "Potion" "Throwables" etc. I then use the click/select all and send party members different item types just to make my life easier. Scrolls to this person, Potions here, Throwables here. Helps me quite a bit as I am going through Act 3 now.

Great video. This and your other inventory/UI video has been really helpful. One other tip I'll add is to keep one each of the following items on each character in your party: Backpack, Pouch, Burlap Sack. You can designate each container to hold a certain type of item, e.g., scrolls, books/notes, potions, throwables, gems/ingots, wares, etc. It really helps to avoid clutter in your main inventory space. And you can still use the search feature to find items to share/use between characters. You can also drag these containers into your custom hotbar to open them up mid-combat, where you can use the items at will.

You don't need to have one of each container type, I just do it to more easily know where to put each item type.

I really don't get why they didn't just do an infinite shared inventory. cuz like they have a limit but you can just move stuff to camp whenever you want so the limit is essentially infinite if you don't mind clicking a bunch of times. I mean you can even teleport stuff from your camp to a party member standing in front of a trader, why not just give us the ability to sell to traders straight from the camp inventory? cuz in a round-about way that's pretty much what everyone is doing anyway ...

150 hours later i find this, never opened single pouch :D. Actually now that i tested it, i prefer messy inventory, since you can't open pouch in the combat, which makes them pretty much useless.

Any and all camp supplies should just be right click>send to camp. No point in carrying that weight around. As long as you click on the bedrolls to long rest, which are always near the camp storage, you can select camp supplies right out of the storage chest without having to have them in your inventory.

Thank you for this video! I wish I would have seen it before. I learned a lot of this on my own, but I did learn some useful stuff in this video that I still did not know. I knew about shift clicking, but I didn't know about using the control button to select individual items. The main thing I learned was that you can pick up bags to sort your inventory. I've put over 100 hours into playing this game and didn't know that, but that's super useful and I will definitely use that because even with everything I knew, my inventory was still always really crazy.

17:52 200 hours in and I'm just now realizing I can put a pouch with all my potions in ONE hotkey box? GAME CHANGER!

Does anyone know what buttons I need to press on a steam deck/controller to manually drag items into containers?? I'm dying in clutter and I don't know how to drag things 🥲
