NEET PG results 2024: Two shifts, normalisation process explained by expert Gaurav Tyagi

This year National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2024 examination was held in two shifts by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).

The results have raised several questions owing to the unexpected scores and normalisation process.

Yaa people who didn't performed well got 9 k 10 k ranks even with less marks this is very gross miscalculation

I don't think it's just a case of normalization. If in the same shift, one expecting a score of 600 is getting a rank of 70-80K, and the ones who were sure of not being able to qualify this time are getting ranks of 9K, 11k, 15K, then it is a gross miscalculation on their parts or may be a huge scam. If after the release of scorecards, the candidates who were expecting 500-600 marks, see their result to be 250-300, then what benefits will the re normalization of their marks bring to them?

They should release the merit list with our marks like previous year merit list separately for for shift 1 and shift 2
Then we could compare with our total merit list
We could compare with our previous years merit list
If there is rank inflation compared to previous year then it could have occured only because of question paper leak
Like the rank inflation faced by neet UG students
This is not new for NBE
They have postponed the exam a day before without any reason raised issue of question paper leak
So much rank inflation could be only due to question paper leak

I was expecting my rank with recall below 1 lakh but what i got above 1 lakh

Normalisation is faulty here. Shift 1 candidate scoring 560 & shift 2 candidate scoring 540, if they normalize some in-between 550, & upto 7 decimals, then obviously, shift 2 candidates get benefitted more, & rank of shift 1 candidate may go big difference back, some thousand to lakh difference may be seen....how it can be accepted.

Yes please clarify the marks clearly, there is so much discrepancy in the result compared to the recall … it’s not fair for those students who have work really hard for this exam and we all deserve to hv clarity .

What about the difficulty of afternoon session. Think about people who are preparing also working in state government. Such depth questions. Its not fair to ask fair questions in morning session and totally difficult postgraduate questions for afternoon session

Why all toppers are from morning shift? Why people are not raising this issue when everyone can see this?
It is evident paper 1 had mostly pyqs. No normalization done. Evening paper candidates got very high rank.
Completely unfair. We should unite and bring this to surface, every small effort gets counted.

Same thing happened with me.Gave it my best this year.Recall mai i got 120 correct that i was very sure about but my rank is 95k.How is that possible.I am from shift one.I feel like yeh result mera hai hi nai.What to do.I am devastated.Itni rank meri bina padhe aa jati.

Why are some persentile ranges like 92.5, 88.5 missing from the list....? Is this literally possible, if on other persentiles like 95.5, there are too many Kuch to gadbad hai
