Mounting a Craftsman 2-bin Bagger onto a Husqvarna 42” Riding Mower

Oct. 2022, just bought a Husqvarna TS142K 42” riding mower to replace my Craftsman 42” rider. Current price for a Husq bagger is $349. Insane. I’m repurposing my Craftsman bagger for the Husqy. This bagger is from 2015 but AFAIK the design hasn’t changed.

The holes on the back plate of the Husqy tho aren’t threaded, so I had to thread tap them. These holes are for 5/16”-18 bolts (same as the Craftsman mower), so all I needed was a thread tapper for that size/thread count.

After note: I guess the bracket shaking that I mention near the end of the video isn’t anything to think about at all or fix. I suppose the weight of the frame and the catchers on these brackets is enough to steady it up, especially when the grass starts flowing into the bags and weighting everything down.

Your video helps me figured that part out. Thanks

Do not do this. You will destroy the stamped holes and the bolts will never tighten. Just hand tighten the bolts with a 1/4 drive ratchet. The bolts are self tapping/threading.

Just got my TS142k from the dealer, I had an older unit with the bagger, and was told I could use it. On my unit, I had threads that were not clean, so I ran a tap through them to fix them up. Looks to be a quality control issue.
