Xiaomi SU7 Driven - The Car Jim Farley Can't Get Enough Of

The Xiaomi SU7 arrives with enormous expectations, but it just happens to be every bit as good as they said it would be.

Not many cars are launched to the kind of fanfare that the Xiaomi SU7 was. One of China's largest and most famous consumer electronics companies, and one that isn't banned around the world, Xiaomi has a following in China like few others so when the SU7 was announced the eyes of a nation were on the company.

But could the company, complete newbies to the car making game with an enormous new self-owned facility and deep pockets, succeed where Apple and Dyson had failed, and where Huawei don't yet dare to tread? On the evidence of this drive, absolutely. The SU7 is already a sales hit, but it's also a stunning, if Porsche-inspired, saloon, packed full of tech and connectivity none can match, and with a drive that's every bit as enjoyable and competent as the likes of the Zeekr 007.

This is more than an EV, car.

It is an IT device on wheels. Like an IoT lifestyles device that connects you to your daily life, smart home, etc.

Even with 100% US tariffs it's still less than half the price of a Porsche who has had lots of problems with their EV's.

No wonder in China Porsche is losing its market.

Hopefully they'll bring it to Europe/UK. Looks like a brilliant car esp for the price.

it's world's first car made by a phone company.

What i like about Xiaomi is they give you the option to attach buttons to the screen if you're someone who like to have physical buttons for basic functionality like regulating car's/seats temperature.

Xiaomi has really smashed it out of the park

I cannot understand why anyone would want an SUV or Truck when they could get something like this for the same price. The Chinese and Tesla are setting the trend for new smartcars 👈🏾

I refer this Inside China Auto episode as a GIFT. From 3 years till today i own an Xiaomi 12x smart phone, it is unbelievable robust, practical and beautiful mobile.

Was always wondering what exactly is the hype behind this. Once you got to the infotainment, I understood pretty quickly. What a techy beast.

Hi Mark.
I get so jealous when I see you driving these beautiful cars, best for your drive in the car I really really want to own, it will match my show me Mi10 mobile phone 📱, it's amazing how a phone company can make such a car, are they not being helped by Geely or Saic or BYD or someone, how do you think they might be able to ramp up production is there factory big enough, , Btw I noticed you in the background on a lot of shots of the recent uploads of the guys on YouTube that we're at the Zeekr event just recently Tom, Riz and Sam Evans.., that would have been cool to go there.
Yes well what a lovely car this is beautiful shape, I just hope they can go into global worldwide production with it.
Loved all the roads where you was there was no one on it you could have gone bananas with it 😅. Anyway keep up the good work. We have an electric car show coming up in Melbourne in August I'll keep my fingers crossed I'll have something decent.
Regards John

That attachable button should be standard for ALL vehicles with just a screen

As a Porsche Taycan owner, I find this car intriguing. Too bad it'll never make it to the US.

Thanks for this amazing walkthrough. Great camera work and editing and lots of usefull information. Did you charge it? How was the curve? (I have not been able to find anyone charging it on youtube)

One interesting aspect of this vehicle that gets overlooked is its top speed of 265kmh.

Most Chinese cars top out at 200-220kmh.

But Xiaomi's first car has a very high top speed for an EV.

I can't wait for this to be exported so we can see how much it costs outside China? I'll guess 50-70k outside China, and for that track pack rumored to be a tri motor with aero version that's been caught testing at the green hell to come out! More ev competition is good imo. 👍🏻😎
