Today we revisit a brand that has achieved an impressive amount of horological marvels in a short period of time. Hailing from the heartland of Swiss watchmakers, Frederique Constant has managed to offer some of the most compelling, classy, tastefully designed, and affordable luxury timepieces, compared to their contemporaries. How have they done this? And what is the secret to their success? Today we answer these questions with a look at a new version for 2022 of their Highlife Perpetual Calendar watch (ref. FC-775BL4NH6B). In this review, I analyze this watch's design, influences, positives and negatives, and how it typifies everything this brand is capable of. I also explore Frederique Constant's short but fascinating history of innovation, and the price point of its Highlife Perpetual Calendar, as it's currently the most affordable Swiss automatic perpetual calendar you can buy new on the market today.

I love the idea of perpetual calendar watches and I want one. However, the realization that the watch will keep track of my remaining days on earth and remind me of that every time I glance at it kind of freaks me out. At 56 years old, this would start to become an issue. Or perhaps I should get one and truly embrace the Momento Mori ethos. I am torn. Thanks for the review.

I feel like "younger" brands like this are instrumental for the future of our hobby. They are 100% traditional watchmakers, however they tend to be much more daring, whilst keeping the traditional designs and characteristics we love. And Frederique Constat are definitely no exception. Great video as always.

I love to see after all these years you’re still doing great. I got my first Hamilton because of you. And through many changes I’ve settled on a BB S&G. It’s my only watch now and I wear it everyday. It’s just so good to see you still on top MR Tristan. All the best sam

My Frédérique Constant is one of my favorite watches. Beautiful, understated and classic without looking like an homage.

I always thought they were too big also! Wow. My eye is now wandering towards the two-tone Highlife. Excellent!

I have a FC chrono, got it pretty cheap. No complaints. Its good that they allowed Citizen holdings to take over. Now we see some very advanced watches at acceptable prices.

Great video TGV but you've done it again -- you've shown me a watch I didn't know I wanted until now. So many watches so little time (or brass razoos).

I just keep coming back to this review. I really want a PC & I think I'll get one of these one day. Its not the ultimate but I just find it absolutely fascinating.

Just wanted to leave a comment saying I’ve been an avid fan of the channel since 2015, and that I truly appreciate all of your videos, your watch reviews, and all of the work you put into them so so much. Cheers TGV!🥂

After buying several Rolex and omega watches as well as various richemomt watches, I have just ordered my first FC….a highlife chronograph. These are impressive watches imo

I just got one. FC perpetual calendar. It's unused second hand. Paper and box. At price of SGD 5, 300. But it's not the high life. I really think they're value for money. I also got the JLC perpetual slim. Both are rose gold. JLC brand new SGD 51k (if I'm not wrong)....

My wife and celebrated our 25 anniversary so we decided since its the silver anniversary to treat ourselves to nice silver watches. Never really been into watches but having researched them I am finding myself digging them and started looking at this brand, although i bought another silver watch I may have to treat myself to one of these.

I liken this type of movement to the Antikythera mechanism, both being mind blowing and beautiful. Great video as always TGV

Enjoyable! All these pieces in harmony. I looked Tissot and Certina moonphase until I stumbled upon another family member of the highlife series called Heart Beat (FC-310N4NH6B). + Looked other Frederique's and been looking before. There was a decent discount as well, but I didn't want to rush. It's great to see it in person before ordering online. But it looks stunning and elegant. The only downside with these Highlife watches is that they glow in the dark. I'm not a big fan of that, but I believe I can get used to it. The Highlife is youthful, but the FC-710MC4H4 seems like a timeless piece, love the Roman numerals.

Not typically my style of watch but the dial is beautiful. Like you said, a nice slender seconds hands would have been nice. Cheers!

Thanks for making me aware of the escapement - always looked at FC as "another swiss brand with good watches". I also like the Breguet inspired dials - keep with the tradition of the one who updated the escarpment all those years ago
