I am actually amazed with the result when you were using "EQ method" to emulate analog

I'm not embarassed to admit how subtle a lot of these effects are to my old ears
but then again if I take them away from my chain I always immediately notice something feels "missing" once they're gone

with so many subtle but REAL effects, the hardest part is making good decisions

know your tools
listen and think about the song
make a plan based around emotional impact and emotional intentions
THEN make mix changes thoughtfully and with restraint

I love how you seem to constantly hit on the fact that some analog gear if not most is also heavily eq or tonally based. a eq curve to match the tone than adding some saturation does wonders at times for subtle things

I think the microphone EQ depends on the vocalist. if they can sing better, then we're good to go or vice versa. correct me if I'm wrong

Satin is still the best (and most realistic) tape plug-in I've ever come across. Softube Tape also sounds good but lacks so much in features compared to Satin. I also love the AX-102 Nebula 4 library from Cupwise.
