~Lyrics~

Ho, ro, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.
Real Bog, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.

Well in the bog there was a hole,
A rare hole and a rattlin' hole,
And the hole in the bog,
And the bog down in the valley-o.

Ho, ro, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.
Real Bog, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.

Well in that hole there was a tree,
A rare tree and a rattlin' tree,
And the tree in the hole,
And the hole in the bog,
And the bog down in the valley-o.

Ho, ro, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.
Real Bog, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.

on that tree there was a branch,
A rare branch and a rattlin' branch,
And the branch on the tree,
And the tree in the hole,
And the hole in the bog,
And the bog down in the valley-o.

Ho, ro, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.
Ho, ro, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.

on that branch there was a limb,
A rare limb and a rattlin' limb,
And the limb on the branch,
And the branch on the tree,
And the tree in the hole,
And the hole in the bog,
And the bog down in the valley-o.

Ho, ro, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.
Real bog, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.

Well on that limb there was a nest,
A rare nest and a rattlin' nest,
And the nest on the limb,
And the limb on the branch,
And the branch on the tree,
And the tree in the hole,
And the hole in the bog,
And the bog down in the valley-o.

Ho, ro, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.
Real bog, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.

Now in that nest there was a bird,
A rare bird and a rattlin' bird,
And the bird in the nest,
And the nest on the limb,
And the limb on the branch,
And the branch on the tree,
And the tree in the hole,
And the hole in the bog,
down in the valley-o.

Ho, ho, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.
Real bog, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.

In that bird there was an egg,
A rare egg and a rattlin' egg,
And the egg on the bird,
And the bird in the nest,
And the nest on the limb,
And the limb on the branch,
And the branch on the tree,
And the tree in the bog,
And the hole in the bog,
And the bog down in the valley-o.

Ho, ro, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.
Real bog, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.

In that egg there was a bird,
A rare bird and a rattlin' bird,
And the bird on the egg,
And the egg on the bird,
And the bird in the nest,
And the nest on the limb,
And the limb on the branch,
And the branch on the tree,
And the tree in the bog,
And the hole in the bog,
And the bog down in the valley-o.

Ho, ro, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.
Real bog, the rattlin' bog,
The bog down in the valley-o.

Worked in a hotel that done weddings. 1 weekend we had about 100 Irish people come over from Donegal to Paisley and I have to admit it was probably the best working weekend I have ever had. On the Saturday I was told to close the residents bar at 4am but kept it goin until 6am, they were a roudy bunch but it was all in good spirits and everyone was so well behaved, the banter was superb, it helped me enjoy the shift and not have to worry about any carry on. I went home and came back in at 10am to get the beer lines cleaned and they were all back on it for the hurling final the minute I opened the bar. I thought they couldn't have got any wilder after the wedding but fuck me, they went absolutely bonkers for that hurling and their team won so it was another crazy day at the bar but I honestly loved every minute of it. Great memories and seeing this video brings them all back 💙💚

Her voice carries that Melody so beautifully, and no one has been mentioning it but that lady in the wedding dress has been killing the Harmony on the choruses

Irish people are the most fun to hang around with.
I was lucky to be invited to this irish couples wedding who i befriended on a plane. It was the most fun night of my life, we drank, we sang, we danced, we drank even more.
It was awesome. We still are good friends and the grooms little sister is getting married and im again invited, irish people are awesome. God bless yall

I swear this cured my depression when I found it. Tried several other versions of this song and while some of them have been good I still come back to watch this one every few months. Never fails to put a smile on my face

Girl in the white dress, who is also the bride, amazing, and also a choir teacher, and is singing a lovely harmony. And at 5am it's all a bloody masterpiece.

This wasn't a song for fun. This was a sobriety test. If you can remember all the words without making a mistake they let you drive on.

Everytime i hear this song it reminds me of my childhood. My Appalachian grandmother used to sing this to me when i was a kid. She got so fast with it you almost couldn't understand her. Her mother taught it to her just as her mother did and so on. Since it was passed down orally by memory we had lost the Rattlin' Bog part of the song. When this video went viral we realized it was actually a very old irish folk song. We have Irish ancestry so we figure it was probably passed down from them. When i showed my grandmother this version she was shocked but so happy to hear the rest of the song. We sang and clapped along. 💜 I will forever love this song with all my heart.

From the Irish Post:
The O'Connor sisters went viral back in 2017 for their lively rendition of ‘The Rattlin Bog’ as part of a sing-song after a wedding in Ireland.
Now, two years and millions of views later, sisters Patrice O’Connor and Clodagh O'Connor have been invited to make their US debut at the upcoming Irish Fest in the Barn in Wisconsin.
