Brooke prays that Deacon and Bridget are getting together, so her family will finally be free of Deacon and Amber. Amber says that although she may love Deacon, she can’t be with him because she’s married. Deacon and Amber kiss one last time and then exit. Brooke and Eric are crushed when Amber and Deacon say they intend to stay married. Taylor sees Antonio (Tony) at Las Olas and insists he come by the office to further discuss his condition, in the process, she just misses seeing Kristen enter.

*Brooke's Unreliable Narration*
It's funny how Brooke was trying to drive the romantic plot like Stephanie by correctly reading Amber and Deacon's feelings for each other and yet she misinterprets their final decision and is shocked when they profess their commitments to Rick and Bridget. In the end, Brooke ends up being an Unreliable Narrator again and for the same reason she often was when it came to her own romantic life - because she prioritizes passion and personal happiness over commitment and responsibility. Brooke would've made the move to follow her heart no matter who it hurt (and she will do that with her daughter's husband eventually!) and so she naturally expects Amber and Deacon to do the same thing. The fact that they turned out to have a bit more substance or at least aspire to be better people is something she didn't see coming because that's not who SHE is, and she thought she saw herself in both of them.

I couldn’t help laughing when Brooke bemoaned how two people like Amber and Deacon entered their family. Heaux from the Valley who slithered her way into the family as a maid and slept her way up, down, and sideways the family tree says what, Brooke?

Deacon instantly telling Amber they should just go with their feelings and give in to their passion after days of trying to convince everyone (including himself) that he wanted to change and treat Bridget well showed that he was, in fact, Brooke’s true soulmate.

I know this show was sexist as hell but 2001 wasn’t 1951 even in B&B world. So when I tell you I gasped when Ridge smirkingly asked Taylor, A LITERAL FUCKING DOCTOR, if she was seeing patients again so she wouldn’t be “just another bored, rich housewife, ” I literally gasped. The line, the sneering delivery - it was just awful! Even in 2001, the majority of B&B viewers were probably working women who watched the show taped later on. What were they thinking? And, um, Ridge - you design clothes in your parents’ business for a living. You’re not that impressive.
