Winning 8 games with Davis warren and Alex Orji at quarterback that's a miracle season.

132 out of 134 in the FBS in passing, and we still won 8 games, flipped the number 1 overall recruit, top 5 recruiting class when Ty Haywood signs, beat Ohio State and Bama. Best worst season ever.

As a Michigan fan, still flying high on last year's Natty, I can't complain about this year's record, great finish the last two games.

Beat Sparty, Ohio, and Bama. Considering it was a rebuild situation for Sherrone Moore, it was very positive.

Appreciate Orji. Made some excellent, exciting plays. Nothing but positive to say about him. I wish him well.

As a Michigan fan, not mad at all about our season, especially with wins over lil bro state and bama. Expectations were a little higher but a win over lil bro state always saves the season 〽️

the year was under whelming but the finish was great. Morre had a lot of growing pains. Morre is killing it in recurring and transfer portal, so the future is bright. GO BLUE!!!!

Michigan fan here.

My expectation for the season was 9 wins. In that regard, it's a disappointment.

But we beat MSU, OSU, and Alabama and made some big progress in recruiting. I actually feel very good about the season for those reasons.

Looks like program is in good hands with coach Moore.

Go Blue!

Matt, been a big fan of yours for almost two years now; keep up the great work and looking forward to your "Whatever happened too?" series during the upcoming offseason.

Michigan fan since the late 1980's... My expectation for this season was 8-4 at best & 6-6 at worst. We lost so much talent from the Natty crew departing for the NFL on both the team, and coaching staff. To add insult to injury due to the scheduling of Jim Harbaugh's & JJ McCarthy's departure Moore was not able to acquire an adequate QB from the transfer portal, nor was there a viable prospect drafted from the 2021 HS class to start last fall. Furthermore, despite prodding by athletic director Warde Emmanuel, donors/alumni were not opening their checkbooks. "We just won the Natty, why change anything?" seemed to be the modus operandi at that time. Another complication arose as two coaching staff members had to be replaced during the off-season shortly after being hired. Then Jack Tuttle got injured in the spring... at that point I knew this was going to be a rebuild year despite the rhetoric coming out of Schembechler Hall; "we ain't rebuilding, we reloading!". Yea we ain't Georgia folks.

First game of the season against Fresno State; yup... my fears were completely confirmed despite getting the W. Next week Texas, and you completely called it brother; Sarknado Donkey-Kong smashed Michigan at home... and it could have been MUCH worse but he was merciful. Fast forward to the 2nd bye week, and to be honest I was really getting concerned about the state of the team. One of the main reasons so many Michigan fans were originally thrilled with Moore taking over as HC is that he was viewed as someone whom could maintain the culture at Michigan; which to be honest was only 3 years old at that time. Previous to the 2021 season we experienced 17 or so seasons that ranged from disastrous to disappointing. The thing is players & coaches can be replaced, schemes can be altered, but culture is king; and is incredibly fragile. What takes years to develop can wither & wilt in a moment. So we were at 5-5 at going into the 2nd bye week & finished the season at 8-5... Needless to say Moore has maintained the culture, and above all this is the biggest takeaway from his first season as HC.

Other takeaways...

Wink Martindale; though he will never admit it was blinded by his own hubris & arrogance during the beginning of the season. That being said, he did adjust largely by adopting Jesse Minter's approach when using this scheme with NCAA athletes as opposed to NFL athletes. This is the main reason Michigan was able to pull off upset victories against little bro state & Alabama. Additionally, Moore is not Harbaugh when it comes to recruiting; he is much more hands on with potential recruits & realistic about the importance of NIL. This was most apparent with the acquisition of Bryce Underwood whom has been a game changer for the entire program. This highlights a seismic shift not just in the coaching staff & athletic department, but in the donors/alumni base that has viewed NIL with disdain previously. Amazing how going from wining to losing changes priorities at warp speed...

This wasn't just a rebuild year. It was paradigm shift into the NIL era to be legitimate National Championship contenders moving forward.

TLDR; Michigan lost a battle to win the war.

Matt, Michigan fans were happy with the season. We knew it would be a rebuilding year and were expecting 7-8 wins, but we were not expecting wins against Alabama and OSU.

MattbeLowKeyMichiganFan.
We beat OSU, we beat MSU, we beat Minnesota and we beat Bama twice in one year. We have a top 5 recruit class, a top 5 transfer portal. Transfer Portal and recruitment is only going get better. We are the 2023 15-0 Natty Champs.
We are not sad.

We are happy.

Also I enjoy your videos. Keep it up.

Calling Alex Orji a QB is being generous

UNLV has 25 guys out of the transfer portal so far this season with more to go. About 19 of them from power 4 schools. Add on to that we got almost an entire P4 coaching staff, Dan Mullen and an OC that was the QB coach for CJ Stroud and Justin Fields, something special is being built down in Vegas. I don’t think Orji is gonna start tho. It all depends on practice but as of rn he would probably sit behind Virginia transfer Anthony Colandrea.

UNLV student here, the football program has been balling as of recent under previous HC Barry Odem. Can’t wait to see what Dan Mullen has in store for the future of this program!

Many of the games were hard to watch this year. We should have beaten Indiana and Washington, bad quarterbacks and play calling was a huge factor. However, you are right, we won against Michigan State, kept the Brown Jug, and ended the regular season shaming Lil Bro State AT HOME!! Beating Alabama at the Blooming Onion bowl was a great way to end the season and certainly gave us momentum into the next one. Sherrone kicked Kirk Campbell to the curb and that was a good decision. Our offense looked better, not great, the last three games after he lost play calling ability. I'm hopeful for next year. Side note, I went to the Reliaquest bowl and love the Alabama fan base. Classy, friendly and passionate

Michigan's Davis Warren passed for 67 yards against OSU and not to shabby 73 yards against Alabama. Both victories.

As a Michigan fan, I knew it would likely be a bit of a down year compared to 2023 ... Had no idea they wouldn't have a qb, though, so the fact they beat MSU, USC, Ohio State, and Alabama, I'll take it! Go Blue!

Michigan had an offensive passing attack that was worse than navy and air force: and they beat Ohio State, at the same time planted the "M" flag in the 50 yard line of the subconscious minds of an entire State Colleges fanbase. Success and Go Blue
