Hello! My name is Devon Overbey and I have written this full orchestral symphony over my sophomore year in high school. This "Symphony for Love" (Scriptum Deo) is by far the largest piece of music that I have ever written, and has required a tremendous amount of work, so if you're here, it is greatly appreciated. There are 5 Movements:
I. Allegretto in D Major, a triumphant and dramatic opening that represents the glory and unstoppable presence of Love. (0:00-4:19)
II. Allegretto in A Major is a calming, romance-induced take on love, showing the beauty of sensuality.
(4:21-11:48)
III. Andante, a thrilling, playful take on love. Even in E Harmonic Minor, it gives a sense of the joy and excitement of love, with a tinge of darkness to add to the reality of this joy. (11:50- 16:01)
IV. Adagio, In G Minor, this insanely dark twist on the triumphant story of the symphony shows the harder side of love, with disagreements, hardship, and loss. (16:08-21:59)
V. Allegro, in D Major, the powerful and surprisingly uplifting reminiscence of all of the aspects of love, along with more stories to tell. This movement is extremely metaphorical in that, every theme is like a memory, and on the darker themes, there are newly joyful perspectives, similar to how one remembers mostly the good memories from a hard time. The end of the piece includes a part of my Serenade in G Minor as well as the theme from my first song, tying all parts of the efforts that created this symphony together. (22:05-32:19)
