Dr. Griffin Myers attended medical school at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Upon receiving his medical degree, Dr. Myers took a less traditional route working for a top consulting firm. During this time, he also received his MBA from UChicago’s Booth School of Business. Later, Dr. Myers decided to return to clinical medicine and completed his residency training in Emergency Medicine at Harvard University’s Women’s and Brigham Hospital. Soon after, he founded Oak Street Health: a series of clinics that operate under the value based healthcare model.

Great advice! First and foremost, KNOW your craft WELL. You must have all of the factual knowledge and the requisite technical skills to do your work, regardless of what that is. The universe of medicine and surgery is so large and expanding so rapidly that no one person can begin to master it all. That's the reason for specialization and subspecialization. Becoming the consummate authority in your chosen area provides great personal satisfaction and enormous benefit for patients. You never have to wonder whether someone else could have done it better.
