SHANNON Let The Music Play 12 INCH MIX

Recorded and released in 1983, Shannon's debut track 'Let The Music Play' was a huge dance and club success in America, where it topped that chart and afforded the singer a Top 10 Billboard Pop hit (her only Top 40 entry there). Here in Australia, whilst I recall it being a favourite at venues, it could only manage a #62 peak after its May 1984 entry into our Top 100. However across the ditch in New Zealand it nearly made it all the way to pole position; but #2 was its best pop showing anywhere in the world. With half a dozen singles over an 18 month period gracing the dance chart for Shannon, nothing came close to 'Let The Music Play'.

This 12 inch extended mix is not overly generous, but it is a vibey recording, and a portent of where synth pop/dance music would head for the rest of the 1980's.
