Meet the Rlaarlo X12S 4x4 Brushless RTR buggy, based on the ROG1.

Rlaarlo sent it to me for review. I did not pay for it...

...at least, not with money. Instead, I paid with HOURS of videoing and editing, just for YOU! I hope you find it helpful as you decide whether or not to buy this latest creation from the increasingly-prolific Rlaarlo.

So, this is the Rlaarlo X12S review. Clear your calendar, grab your coffee, put your phone on silent and find your comfy chair. It's time to take a long, hard look at their latest buggy.

Let's go!

RC dog review summary:
Covers ground extremely well while on full energy.
Maneuvers around obstacles and targets very well, even moving ones.
Drivetrain is quite noisy while on full energy, but qietens down a lot with energy going down 😋
Can trip up against its own legs when energy is low, but a snack or two should solve it.
Can overheat, so needs breaks and water close by.
Extremely durable, but this may be due to finest tree avoidance system.
Rarely goes sideways uncontrollably.

Recommended to all ages 😁

More "C's" = bigger dump. Got it 👍

Another great video. I am not interested in the offroad buggies but still enjoyed this video.

I wouldn't have watched this vid if it wasn't for you, Craig. It's always interesting to listen to your thoughts on any car you get your hands on.

On another note, I really appreciate your confidence and experience, but unless an actual mistake from manufacturer's at the time of releasing a vehicle, I'd always try the car first with factory settings. Even if after a few minutes you want to go ahead and make your own adjustments, that again, are absolutely sound.

But giving the car the chance to perform as absolutely stock, out of the box, can give a more representative impression on what most people will find.

Once that's settled, your own changes can make a bigger point and show how that is an actual improvement to those that wouldn't know otherwise. Just my $0.02.

Otherwise, I'll reiterate, I love the confidence with the questions arised on the vehicle's first impressions/comparison with the previous iteration, and overall informative content throughout the vid.

Loved seeing Lana having such a blast!

Great comparison on the two. I think there are a lot of people who think this car is just an upgraded version of the old car. Great video, but that pup stole the show on this one!

You’ve officially mastered the art of sibling rivalry with your comparison of the AM-X12 and the X12S. Now everyone can finally tell who’s who in this RC family! 🙌

And about that dog chase... 🐕💨 Was it just me, or did the X12S have the “ruff” upper hand? Either way, I’m still laughing. 😂 That’s some high-octane entertainment right there!

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a holiday season as tough and fun as our ROG1 & X12S siblings. 🎄

The XTS is 1/10 scale and the OT platform, thus the centre diff, the X12S is 1/12 and it's ROG1 based as you state. As I've the AM-X12 (more than one), I don't see the need for this new release, and don't understand why Rlaarlo released it. It should have been the X10S on the OT platform or a completely different vehicle, like a short course truck. A good buggy from what I can see, just not a release needed or asked for by customers. Rlaarlo like to do their own thing for good or bad, and it certainly isn't always for the good unfortunately. I have that Rlaarlo battery and found the internal resistance was significantly higher than some other batteries, so it will deliver less current due to this. Been looking at the Dumbo DDF-350 and those X6FG receivers too. Don't think Rlaarlo do waterproof servos either. Good review again Craig, always a pleasure to watch, always something to learn.

Thanks for the video! It was very informative, if I must say. I also like your collection of cars, as I seen them in the background.
I just got mine yesterday, and I was immediately AMAZED at how the car drove and handled. It handles just as good as my WLToys 1/10 Match. Although, I swapped for a beefier motor etc. but the overall lower end weight etc. makes it happen.

Craig, I'm a big fan of the engineering and materials Rlaarlo uses, but I have to admit—they really dropped the ball with me on a pre-sale item a while back. They pulled what felt like a tricky advertising rug pull by cutting the pre-sale savings after the release, but that wasn’t even my main issue. Pre-ordering was supposed to come with certain items or hop-ups as a bonus, and those items never arrived. I said, 'No problem, send me your upgraded transmitter, and we’ll call it even.' They initially agreed but then declined a week later. Needless to say, this left a sour taste. I’m chalking it up to poor handling by a bad customer service rep rather than an issue with the company as a whole—I’m not one to cast a broad net based on one bad experience.

Thank you for always digging into the nitty-gritty of RC without pandering to trends or chasing viral fluff. If the RC world and its content creators were like late-night hosts, you'd be the Carson, Letterman, or Conan in a sea of Lenos, Cordens, and Carson Dalys. Your dedication to covering what matters instead of just what sells speaks to a level of integrity that's becoming rare in the race for algorithms. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: keep it up. You're the king of RC, my friend, and there are only a few like you left. Thank you for what you do—it means more than you know!

First of all, thank you for putting the video so that you can choose your listening language. The car looks nice and Rlaarlo seems eager to do well and get into the market. Let's hope they soon get around to releasing something on a large scale.

Beautiful video ! Especially pinion gear adjusting! This car is very easy to use 😇best for sure, no Gyro needed

Thanks Craig, this was another great video. Lana is so fun and funny. I just picked up the Arrma Typhon Grom 223 BLX over at Amain, and it's $190 with a gyro, but no battery or charger. I've got plenty of batteries and a charger, so no worries there. I would've picked this one up, but other reviewers found a weakness in the rear end of the vehicle after some pretty heavy bashing. I don't usually bash my RC, but the Groms look like they're able to take a very severe beating! I feel like the buggies do much better on a well groomed track, I don't find that they're as much fun bashing/off read as a truck personally. I really enjoyed this though, and thank you for the good battery info, I found that especially interesting.

You definitely need to teach the dog how to right the cars, to save you walking over to do it! 😆

He's a gorgeous fella. And looks to be a bit of a handful. ❤️

Thank you for another great video. I've been looking at this for about a week now and just made the purchase. The dog provided some extra fun and entertainment. Now if only you can train her to flip the car ride side up. LOL
