Paul's work with Ladysmith Black Mambazo is well with checking out.

Paul is a very eclectic artist and did music about anything that he felt strongly about. No wasted words from him. Most of the better writers did the same. Nice Choice.

My 158 piece Drum Kit ensemble includes 14 Tuned Steel Snare Drums side by side 10" - 15" that allows me to play Melodies with the different notes. This song is a MUST JOIN IN the rhythms they are playing.

After Simon & Garfunkel Simon began his solo career which has been eclectic and always interesting. Paul is a poet of remarkable talent and a musician always exploring for something new and interesting. IMO, this particular song is the least interesting selection from his best album. For killer choices, listen to (read) “Further to Fly” and “Cool, Cool River” (neither have music videos). Some of the lines are just exquisite—so moving and evocative:

“The open palm of desire
wants everything, it wants everything, it wants soil as soft as Summer and the strength to push like Spring”

“The speeding planet burns
I’m used to that
My life’s so common it disappears
And sometimes even music
Cannot substitute for tears”

The Rhythm of the Saints blends Paul’s jazz-tinged folk-rock with afro-cuban-Brazilian fusion to produce this gem—that sadly was too different for many to find digestible.

I still remember the crap he recieved playing with South African musicians bc of the boycott of the apartheid county. He wanted to feature the players and am thankful he brought them the worldwide acclaim they deserved. Imo

I couldn’t really hear him, I think I would prefer to hear the drummers separately? I’m not his biggest fan sometimes. Great reaction 😊
