Ch. 1.24 - Add a LaunchScreen to your SwiftUI App (You Are Awesome app)

preview_player
Показать описание
We use the "SwiftUI" method (Info tab property list entries) to create a launch screen (required by the AppStore). We'll use a custom color as a background color, and a custom image. We'll also discuss @1x, @2x, and @3x image sizes, and demonstrate how to overcome some current quirks in Xcode.
Part of a university course by Prof. John Gallaugher designed for the absolute beginner, where students will learn to program using Swift + SwiftUI. The course will move from no assumed prior programming experience while students learn fundamental, then intermediate and advanced concepts, culminating in a full stack app. Full free course playlist at:

Thank you for this video. I had to scrub through a few others that "claimed" to be launch screens, but were not so I appreciate this one being exactly what I was looking to achieve.

Hi Prof,

I tried using a smaller image for the launchscreen icon, but I still have the icon splashed across the whole screen (even though I'm using a 256 x 256 pixel image, and not a 1024 x 1024 png).
How should I fix this please?

Btw, I've no issues with following and repeating the rest of this lesson. :) Thanks so much!

why cant you just right click on ContentView, create a new file and select launch screen? Is it because that launch screen is for Storyboard and it will not apply to SwiftUI?

G'day Prof G. Loving your course. I have an app that works and I am slowly polishing its design as I learn more. My iPhone is an SE (3rd generation). In the simulator I can see the image in the launch screen but it doesn't show up on my phone. Any suggestions?
